I was just thinking about how much time and effort myself and I'm sure all of you put into planning these trips and was wondering if you ever put such a high expectation on it that there was no way the real thing could ever live up to what you imagined? For example maybe you had grand visions of taking your little ones on the same rides you remember as a child, only to get there and have them be scared or not want to go on it.
I guess I'm just looking forward to this trip soooooo much that I don't want to jinx it or be disappointed somehow.

As someone who plans almost minute by minute days, once I get into the magical world of Disney I never feel dissapointed if my days don't work out "just right" There will be so much fun and excitement and joy you won't have time to feel dissapointed, until you have to leave that is. :sad1:

My advice to you is plan and plan and enjoy planning before you go. Once you arrive take a deep breath and just enjoy. My first trip with dd3, I tried to do commando and lets do this and that etc... and DH and dd were exhausted :rotfl2: This past trip I just let dd take the lead and had fun watching her decide what SHE likes doing in WDW. It was SO much fun. Yes, we kept our reservations mostly the same and even stuck with most of the park days we anticipated but once you arrive let the kids lead you - it is SO much more fun for everyone.

I know what you mean. Florida IS known as the Sunshine State, and I'd enjoyed glorious, sunny weather at WDW in October, November and December. I couldn't wait for my kids to experience seeing Cinderella's Castle for the first time at the head of Main Street ... which they did ... in the rain! It was our first trip with kids, in March of 1999, and the weather started out dark, overcast and wet. Definitely NOT what I had in mind, and I was disappointed. But we were in Disney after all, and after the sun peaked out later in the day I certainly brightened up much more.

The other thing was that I had hyped up Pirates of the Carribean so much because it's my favorite attraction, so we rode it first. My daughter, who was seven at the time, got scared when our boat went thru a small dip in the water. I couldn't believe it ... I never even realized there was a dip there before. So after that, it scared her about trying other rides. Oh well, she's 14 now, and finally ... finally ... she says she's ready to try Big Thunder Mountain Railroad when we go in January. Yea!

My wife and I do try to limit our expectations (hard to do with reading all the nice thigns that CAN happen in WDW) :) This will be our daughteres first trip to anything Disney, so I suppose anything will be magical to them.

To prep our 6 years old for the rides, we started "training" her with the lame local county fair rides and working our way up to the regional amusement park this year. This is a kid who got freaked out by riding a simple kiddie train ride at Mall of America when she was 4 so we were a bit worried.

Kids do surprise you.

Couple weeks back, I took her on a real roller coaster ride. My wife was basically standing by with a spare change of pants! :) I decided to start her strong by sitting in the last car of the roller coaster (fastest and longest drop position!) :)

Yes, I am an evil dad.

After the ride, she wants to do it again.

Yes, she's ready for Thunder Mountain Railroad! Yeeha!
