Yup! DH says it was that group! *I* thought it was the one at BR Clinic. But between him and 3 kids....I get a little comfused. I'd expect him to have a better memory of the ordeal than me about that though. (Even though he's tried VERY hard to forget! )

We need to compare docs, LOL I asked DH if he would get fixed again if I got PG he said hell no, I would get fixed this time

I just threw that scenario up to DH. All I got was furrowed eyebrows and a big mean breathing sound! Seriously...I think he's done talking about it with me. LMBO! (Doesn't mean i can't talk about it here though! Gotta love the DIS! )


ETA: He finally speaks. He said he probably would...but he'd make it very clear to the doc that if he felt any pain during that the doc might die. That he'd come back to visit the doc after he recovered. And apparently he realizes I'm telling you all this cause he adds that he's not a violent person...

haha my best friend and her brother right older than her were both 'failed' vasectomy's.

As long as you get the zero count after you should be fine.

I don't know if that's necessarily true, because I checked with my friend and her husband DID go back and get a zero count. The doctor is saying that his vas deferens "reattached" itself after so many years. Freaky! My friend said she is going to cut his arm off and see if that will re-grow like an amoeba!

There are several methods the doctors use when doing vasectomies. Some just snip the vas deferens, some snip and tie the vas deferens, some snip and burn the vas deferens, and some snip, tie and burn the vas deferens.The latter is the most effective and the former the least.

That's the way mine was done. I hope it doesn't ever decide to reverse itself!!

I don't know anyone personally this has happened to but I've heard of it more than once. As a matter of fact my OB told me a real doozy. When I found myself pregnant with our 3rd child it wasn't just a suprprise; it was a shock! Our first is an IVF baby. With our second we had exhausted the IVF option on our insurance but we still had 3 tries at an IUI that would be picked up by insurance. We figured we might as well give it a shot (no pun intended given the # of fertility shots I gave myself between the 2 IVF attempts and the 3 IUIs with injectable meds) as we really had nothing to lose. DS #2 was concieved on the 3rd try. After that we thought we were done. Surprise surprise when 4 years later I turned up pregnant on a month when my husband was out of town for all but ONE weekend. I joked with the OB that I was shocked because I had always found infertility to be such an effective method of birth control. She laughed and said "nothing shocks me anymore. Last year I delivered a baby to a 43 year old woman whose tubal ligation I had done 5 years prior and whose husband had had a vasectomy. She had the tubal because their previous baby was born post vasectomy. They never would have believed they still weren't done!" I asked what the couple had to say about that, she said the woman begged her for a hysterectomy just to be 100% sure!

Truthfully, though...if I popped up pregnant now that my husband has had a vasectomy, his arm is NOT what I would be considering cutting off!

I've heard of that too. Honestly, I'd never rely on a vas by itself (just BECAUSE of my friend hahaha)

and ROFL um..yeah the arm. I hope her husband sleeps with one eye open
