We are desperately seeking DD#2's brand new (Christmas) digital Kodak camera. She has been working on a girl scout photography badge. Yesterday she took a photo of her sister, didn't like it, deleted it. Remembers looking at her photos in the dining room. DH and the kids did not go anywhere yesterday after church (I went to the store but didn't take her camera, in fact I don't remember even seeing it yesterday). Last night we spent 2 HOURS looking everywhere in the house and yes, through the trash for this camera in its case. I found 2 huge baskets of dirty laundry in DD#2's room but no camera--we have opened every cupboard, checked every shelf, even drawers that are too small for the thing anyhow! We've scoured the basement, the entire downstairs....where the heck is the stupid thing!!!!!!!! DD#2 is beyond upset--she loves that camera and knows she has really let us down if it is gone. I'm just sick of looking for it and am fairly exhausted!
Anyone else ever have something just vanish??

Yes it's happened to me and it is incredibly frustrating! I hope you find the camera soon!

I lost my address book just after Thanksgiving. I ended up not sending out Christmas cards because I COULDN'T find it. I know I looked everywhere. Last week, my mom came to stay with the kids while I was on a business trip, and she found it! In a place I KNOW I looked at least 3 times!

It's Gremlins, I tell you!

I remember the Twilight Zone episode where you built each moment ahead of time, and they said that those things that were there one minute, gone the next, then back again were "mistakes"!

We have a very crafty fiend who makes his or her way into the house every few weeks to swipe one of my socks. Not the pair, mind you, just one sock. To add insult to injury, said fiend will occasionally hide the remote control while making a stealthy exit. Very frustrating. :scratchin

OM GOSH!!! This happens ALL the time in my house!!! It makes me so mad I could pop a blood vessel~!! :furious:

I always remember "Blues Clues"--go back go back go back. I try to retrace my steps and *sometimes* I find what I'm looking for. Other times I find it a year later!!! Good luck!

Yep....lost our one cordless phone in the summer and still haven't found it

This happens to me to.. it is so frustrating as you just used/saw the thing you are looking for yet it is nowhere.

It may turn up in a weird place - like the fridge, somewhere where you don't expect it. Try the bathrooms.

I also lost my cordless phone never having it turn up again.
Also have lost a NIntendo DS. Currently looking for and XBOX 360 headset. It's always something here.

Okay. Your daughter took pics and then didn't like them. Where was she when she was looking at the pics? What room was she in? Was she standing? Sitting? On the couch? Go back and retrace her every step and you will be bound to find it. It is most likely UNDER something, like a newspaper or clothing.
Try getting on your hands and knees as well in case she was on the floor and it got pushed aside.

OR, you can do what works EVERY time. Murphy's law type thing.
GO BUY ANOTHER CAMERA. Bring it home. Wahlah!!!! The old one will suddenly reappear! :teeth:

Socks. Lots of 'em. We lose socks in the house all the time. We have a collection of mismatched socks in hopes that we'll find their mate one of these days.

Yup, I bought 4 Gap Valentine shirts last year for something like $1.97 each to sell this year on ebay. They were in my ebay closet all year long, I kept running into them. Never even took them out of the Gap bag. Well I went to get them to put them on ebay and now they are missing, vanished... GONE!!! I have been through my ebay closet 3 times. I have no idea.

We lost the remote control to our DVD player. You can't do much without it -some DVDs won't even play if they open to a menu and not to the movie itself (no way to select "play the movie" without the remote, or to go to the bonus features, etc).

We looked everywhere, and I mean EVERYWHERE. I thought it would turn up when I did major house cleaning/decluttering. Nope. It's been two years and it's still gone. We ended up buying a new one. :(

I hope you have better luck finding the camera. :grouphug:

We have lost other things and had them finally turn up, and usually in odd places or in someplace where the last known person to see the thing denied that it could possibly be and they say, "oh yeah - NOW I remember taking it in there."

More times than I can count & it seems to be getting worse with old age. :rotfl:

We've lost things & then found them in the most bizarre places---shoes in the bed, in the hamper, inside cabinets. And that's just shoes!

Are there any younger/little ones in the house? I'd be checking toy boxes, inside of bigger toys, cabinets, etc.

I really hope you find the camera!

Thanks, now I don't feel so bad! I looked through every bit of garbage again today, including the newspapers and coupon inserts, so it's not there. The littlest one here is 7 1/2 and he's been trying to help.
She took the picture in the living/computer room. We have looked under furniture, in the fridge, I even had a dream it was in the toilet tank and looked in there!
I just hope it turns up. She's very sad, and she's a pretty good kid. I was the one who convinced DH she was responsible enough for this camera.

I feel for you. I am somewhat obsessed about finding lost objects. DH and DD don't even tell me about them anymore. Good luck! Just wanted to add, last year we could NOT find DD's Gameboy. I took the house apart and put it back togeather about 4 times. When it finally turned up it was in the Cherrios box?????

The 2 days before leaving for Christmas, I lost my entire makeup kit.

I had babysitters over--and I was in a rushed state to get to a meeting. I showered, did my hair, AND my makeup in TEN minutes.

Friday night--my makeup was GONE! I looked EVERYWHERE---but there was only absolutely ONE place it could be. No room for maybe, what if--NOPE--HAD to be in this one place--under my sink. Looked in their 1000 times and still didn't find it.

I was sooo close to accusing my babysitters--thankfully I didn't. I did try to pay them to help me find it to know avail.

Saturday night--about 7 hours before we were to drive to Orlando to catch our flight--I spotted a small leak under my sink in the bathroom. I felt along the pipes to see if I could feel a source--and high up in the pipes--was my makeup kit. Completely out of view---completely out of "feel" range. Completely out of sight balancing on a pipe. I guess i was in a real hurry when I put it back in the cabinet.

I felt really bad and wrote a note of apology and included Christmas money for my sitters that I dropped in their mailbox on my way to the airport. I felt sooo bad for thinking it was possible for my sitters to do such a thing.

The wierd thing about loosing something in our house, we find other things that we have been looking for.

I just shelled out $15 bucs to get my dd birth certificate so she could get her driving temps. Guess what I found 6 months later. her birth certificate in my filing case.

Try this one, I don't know if you are religious, but say a prayer to St. Anthony, he is the patron saint of lost objects. I'm am totally shocked when I find something 2 minutes after I ask him to help me-after I have been looking for an hour.

Yes, My pillow from Brookstone...I loved that pillow, it was a gift from DS for my Birthday. It had to be someone we knew, could you imagine someone taking your pillow?

I remember two things that just disappearred oneday. Nothing big though. One was the scissors that came with my knife set. THe other is a Marine stamp I bought I used it once and it was gone. :confused3

We lose stuff all the time, but ours is a supernatural stealer. She likes to hide stuff from us all the time. I usually stand in the kitchen(center of the house) and ask for divine intervention. I usually find it within the day.

:wizard: Sending some pixie dust your way.
