Hey, I was just off in my own little world and thought maybe someone on these forums once got abducted by aliens or something. (My mind works in strange ways.:rotfl:) Anyway, anyone ever had an encounter with the "outside", and no, I don't have anything better to do with my time than ask random questions.:rotfl:

No, but my parents saw something about 40 years ago that they were absolutely sure was a UFO and I had a very clear dream (to the point that I still remember it) once when I was 18 and staying in a hotel room with my parents that I was on a UFO. I started screaming and it took my dad forever to wake me up and assure me that I had not been kidnapped by aliens.

Like this?

No, but DH had a dream one night. He whispered to me, while sleeping. "Sue, Sue wake me up, wake me up" So I woke him up and he said he was dreaming that he'd been abducted by aliens. Creeped me out totally.

I had a dream when I was about 20. Aliens landed in our backyard. I was so scared but, could not help myself from watching.

I was so scared I wet the bed. Still, don't know if it was real. But, i will never forget it.

LUCiD, huh? :rotfl: Might be time for a name change there. j/k

When I was really young, maybe 6 or 7, I woke up in a panic that someone was in my room. I was so scared I couldn't move. Then I felt something hold me down near me shoulders, then I felt something near my face. I opened my mouth and bit as hard as I could and I felt a zap of electric current in my teeth. Whatever it was slipped off the fell to the floor. I got up and turned on the light and looked all over the room, couldn't find anything. I slept with a night light for a long time after that. :rotfl:

I think I'M going to sleep with a nightlight on after reading that one!

:scared:

My mom said that yrs ago on the way home from a Three Dog Night concert the car that she and her BF were driving in was buzzed by a UFO. Personnally I think that there was a lot more than regular ciggy smoke floating around the arena that night!! :lmao:

That sounds like the classic signs of sleep paralysis (i.e. pressure on the chest or shoulders, buzzing or feeling like an electric current, feeling of a presence in the room, extreme panic, unable to move.) It sounds like you outgrew it. Mine started when I was around 18 years old and I still have it once a week or so. It is terrifying.

I agree with phamton, it probably was just sleep paralysis, so there's nothing to worry about.

When DS was about 3, I was talking to him about cleaning his room. He had toys laying all over the floor, and I was telling him to pick them up, and he started crying. I asked what was wrong, and he said he couldn't pick up the toys. I asked why not, and he said that when the aliens come in his room at night, they trip on the toys and make noise and he wakes up and they leave, but if the toys were gone, he wouldn't be able to hear them coming!

No, logically, I know that there are no aliens coming in our house at night, but it creeped me out anyway! I let him leave the toys on the floor. ;)

It kind of freaks me out that this could have been a real thing. I just thought it was a vivd dream. It never happened again, but 40 years later I remember it clearly.

I think you are right. I have gotten sleep paralysis since I was young. It is terrifying. Sometimes, I would see a dark figure coming at me. Other times I would feel something slither up my body starting at my feet and by the time it reached my head my whole body was covered. Thank God I haven't had any episodes in about 8 years or so. I don't think you can understand how truly horrible they are unless you have one.

I'm always afraid that whenever I talk about it I going to bring another one on. Here's hoping I sleep soundly tonight!!;)

How could you not let him keep his toys on the floor after that!! OMG, I would have done the same with my daughter. Creepy. You should set up a babycam or something in his room to see if you catch anything. ;)

:thumbsup2 As someone who also suffers from sleep paralysis, I thought the same thing when reading that post. I think I was 11 when it started, it increases with stress and only happens when I sleep on my back. So, I no longer sleep on my back (at least I don't go to sleep that way!).

OMG, once a week? :scared1::scared1: I really feel for you. I have had several episodes although I don't get the buzzing thing. For me they are accompanied by extremely realistic hallucinations - even after I wake up I'm not sure that whatever I hallucinated didn't really happen. Fortunately, though, only once did I have the 'bad' kind although that one time was more than enough. I honestly thought I was going to die and I hope to never experience anything like that again. I was afraid to go to sleep for a long time and I couldn't even talk about it for about a week.

ETA: do you sleep on your back? I have read that they are more common when you do and sure enough, whenever I have had them, I am on my back, even though I normally sleep on my stomach.
