Ever go from Deluxe to Moderate and not hate it ?

We have stayed at many of the deluxe hotels. I have done Poly GVC, GF, YC twice, CR, WL twice, and the dolphin. Last year with the new baby we wanted to go for a longer period of time to take it slow and with the new baby, a long stay in a deluxe wasn't in the cards. Besides, with free dining the moderates were a great deal. We did POFQ and loved it. As compared to the wilderness lodge, you won't notice the room size difference. POFQ had a lot of features we liked - a great pool, the wonderful boat ride down the sassagoula to DTD, a good and inexpensive food court, nice grounds with a great path to walk down to riverside. We do feel you need a car there, but we like to have a car anyway. You wont feel like you are missing anything. It was a great vacation at a reasonable price.

My family always split our stays between a Deluxe DVC property and a Moderate and always have enjoyed the experience. This time we are considering going "further down the ladder" and staying at the POP on our bookend days. I think that will be great too!

We went from staying at AKL to CSR. I actually prefer CSR now! The only thing that I miss is the balcony. However, CSR has a lot of sitting areas that are great. I really like the Pepper Market at CSR and the many pools!

I've stayed at all three Disneyland resorts, which are considered deluxe but while at WDW we always stay at a moderate.
I agree w/ the poster who said that the moderates offer a great value. My family loves POR and POFQ.
We would love to stay at a WDW deluxe resort but since we typically stay about 10 nights I just can't justify the expense.

We stayed at the Poly May of 06 and loved it:cool1: we decided to try a moderate for our Christmas trip. We chose CSR it was great:thumbsup2 so we did not have a problem going from a deluxe to a mod:goodvibes

We have stayed at CBR many times up until two years ago and loved it.
We decided to try something new the last two winter vacations and stayed at BWV which we also loved.
For a short April trip we ended up back at the CBR and I still love it.
If they would just build a walking path over to the Boardwalk area I would be in heaven.:)

I went from the Poly to POP and I did fine. I used to swear that I would never stay at a value and then my Disney obsession dictated that not every trip could be at a Deluxe. I actually have never stayed at a Mod (Sept will be our first time) so I am anxious to see how they compare.

I think every property has their own special touches and your experience is all what YOU make of it.

We stayed at the GF on our honeymoon and just stayed at POFQ a little over a month ago. We had no trouble at all going from the deluxe to the moderate.

We had planned to go to a deluxe next trip but loved FQ so much we will stay there again.

My mom and I usually stay at deluxes, but there was one vacation when we went to FL but only had time for a 2night/ 3day wdw trip she decided that it wasn't necessary to stay at a deluxe since, (with so little time) we would be spending minimal time at the resort anyway..... we stayed at CSR and really enjoyed it!!! (We have stayed at Poly, WL, BW and BC). However, one time we went to CB and my mom hated it and changed resorts to BW because of the layout.... But I know a lot of people enjoy CB!

It's all about location for us. If we can get an Epcot area resort for a decent price we go there. For the resort only, without considering location, CSR is our favorite of all of the resorts we've stayed at. Love the pool, food & drink at the pool, food court, bus service & beautiful landscaping!

Thank you for all the responses.

Now we have a dilema - CSR or POR (my kids do not like the picture of the POFQ pool tonge slide).
Slighlty leaning toward CSR.

We would still need to fit a cot in the room (or an Aero bed).
We do not have a car when we go. We fly to MCO and use WDW transportation.

Thanks again ! :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

I've stayed in both deluxe(WL) three times and mod(CBR)twice. Enjoyed them both very much. Only reason I like a deluxe better is the lobby. When it rains, theres no where to go in a mod, unless you brave the elements to go to the food court building, with a deluxe it's simply down to the lobby.

I think time of year and the average weather forecast might play the biggest role in deciding bewteen a deluxe and mod.

I've stayed at a wide range of resorts at WDW. My favorite is POFQ. I just love everything about this place. But mostly that it has it's own bus stop at MK in the evening. Okay, the beignets are good too.

The transporation at CSR is WONDERFUL!!! Since this hotel is also a Convention center, a lot of the occupants are actually NOT going to the parks, which makes the bus virtually EMPTY!! We stayed at CSR last October (and will stay again this September). Not once, was the bus ever full going to or from the parks.

Plus, the walk to the bus stop (there are 4 total) is very close to where ever your hotel room is. When we stayed at AKL, there was only 1 stop and it always felt like miles of walking to get to and from the stop!

Went from the Cont to CSR and never looked back. CSR is my favorite by far. Check out pics and info on my CSR website below.

I don't mind the moderates, try to avoid the values though.

FQ would be my personal favorite followed very closely by CSR.
