to where the same job is all the sudden not so great? I just found out today that the wonderful associate director of our group will be going to a new group. He was not a boss but a mentor and friend. Now we are left with an individual who is politically motivated and only has his goals in mind. I will now be supporting him, which I did before but not on a daily basis.

I don't need any sorry or pity party....I need prayers! Seriously, if things are like there were when I previously supported him I will be looking for a new job in the company very soon.

{{{Hugs}}} and prayers, Amanda. :( Sometimes, just when you think you're on top of the world, the axis shifts and you're hanging upside down, huh?:(

Big {{{{hugs}}}} Amanda!! I have been there myself before and I know it really stinks!! I just hope things work out well for you. I know they did for me.

I know how you feel. Back in 2000, I had a job with a wonderful company and I absolutely loved going to work. Then we were outsourced and it was downhill after that. The corporate environment with the new company is totally different and the job is just not a good fit for me anymore. It really stinks, too, because not only did my job satisfaction decrease, but I lost all my seniority.

I'd be out looking for another job if it weren't for the fact that I get 5 weeks vacation (we were able to keep our accrued vacation), flexible hours, and the option to telecommute. I know, I know, I still have it better than most and I shouldn't be complaining, but the job satisfaction that I used to have just isn't there anymore. But I have 3 kids, so I can't see starting over with 2 weeks vacation and having to work until 5 or 6 o'clock. I'd never see my girls and have no idea how I'd fit in doctors, dentists, orthodontist, gymnastics, teacher conferences, volunteering at the school, and of course, plenty of time with my girls....all the things I'm able to do now with no problem! So, for now I'm stuck unless I quit altogether, but I'm in the IT field and if I did that it would be tough to ever go back. It's something I struggle with daily...what to do, what to do? Well, good luck with your situation...maybe it will be a blessing in disguise and you'll find a position that you will love!

(((HUGS)))Amanda. You will have my prayers. That really does stink.:(

I went through a similar situation last year. Was told my job wasn't "valuable" enough to the operation and therefore was eliminated. BUT I could go back to doing what I hated (at least I'd still have a job). Well, after much praying and support from my family I left, took a huge pay cut, and it has all been fine. As a matter of fact, things are looking really good for a teaching position for me in the fall (making about $10K more than I was at eliminated job!). Just put all in His hands and he will take care of you!

BTW, we miss you on the yaya thread! Stop by sometime!!

You're getting ((((hugs)))) and prayers from me Amanda. I hope things work out for you, maybe this is just one of those trials we have to endure. God bless.

I second iluvorlando's viewpoint. I quit my job in December without another waiting in the wings. I'm not sure who's bright idea it was to institute a payroll change that would put our W2, W4 and payroll vouchers to be accessed and stored on the internet for 3 years as a way to save money. But the only way to opt out was to quit. I felt my freedom of choice was taken away and privacy violated. Within 5 days, I was blessed with a long-term temporary position that started in January. It was worth the pay cut to me. I'm still looking for a permanent position but the Lord has not let me down yet. I just have to be patient and wait for his time not mine.

Yes...been there done that and it keeps getting worse! What I wouldn't give to have the management team back that we had 5 years ago. They actually cared about us as employees and did not just look to see how they could rip on the little people to make their bonuses better.

That's a bummer, Amanda.

Maybe this guy will move through quickly and be out of your hair soon. My best wishes.

I've been there too Amanda. I know it sucks, but the best thing you can do is play the game. Remember this: You will live to see his passing. That is what I always told myself and most of the time I was right.

Hang in there!
