Ever get a PIN code that isn't really a discount at all?

So I (finally) get an email form Disney Destinations. It says that it's a Magical Disney Deal.... one of the fairest offers of them all. Then it tells me a family of 4 (2A, 1J, 1C) can stay at value resort for 5 nights for $1539.00. So I take a look at the Disney website. Um....that's what that package would normally cost, so it's not really a discount at all. :headache:

Yeah I just posted something similar. I did the math and I'm not coming up with a deal either.

I got that same e-mail, I was so excited to finally get a pin code but I was looking at it thinking how exactly is this a discount because it sure doesn't look like one to me. I've already booked at the end of August with the new offer for 40% off on deluxes/DVC so I no longer even needed a pin code but that is pretty sad that they are sending that out as a pin code.

This is what I got too.
I was on the phone 30 minutes, then played online and priced it cheaper online.
I called back to get a different CM and after an hour, it was the same price as online.
Do they think I'm dumb!!

What is the discount in the email? Maybe the dates you're looking at aren't taking in to consideration value vs. regular or peak rates?

That said - I will say that getting a pin can end up costing you more to use it, if the room you're looking for is no longer available. We ended up having to switch hotels within the deluxe level. The resort we are at now is costing us $315 more, but is a slightly bigger room and more conveniently located (though I think from what I've read the CL offerings at the other location were probably better).

Although not new to Disney, I'm new at this - what is a PIN code??

It's a 15 digit code for a discount for room only, free dining, or in some instances, your entire vacation is discounted. It's exclusive to your name and address so can't be shared with anyone else. You get it either by email or by snail mail. But first you have to register at the Disney site and make sure to complete a profile and subscribe to mailing. I've gotten two room discount codes so far but now I'm waiting patiently  for free dining!

No discount is listed..

I got one about a year ago that was not a discount at all, but it had a PIN. I posted on here about it also. I can't remember now exactly what it said. They must think we don't do our homework. :confused3 Or they are banking on the fact that a lot of people don't!:rotfl:

I chatted with the CM about this recent pin. It was basically a 5% off package. Not a deal changer at all.

I got this same PIN...grrr...I would really like to get a 30% off Values PIN for this time period...
