Ever cook in your hotel room?

I'm really disappointed in all of you. YOur little snowflakes are wasting away in the corner of your hotel room with absolutely nothing to make WDW eeeextra special. If you want your trip to be extra special, you need a special princess cake delivered to your room. That's why a real hotel room cook would always bring an Easy Bake Oven on vacation. Wouldn't this make your child's (even the boys) vacation super extra special???

lol That looks like a super uterus barbie cake!!!! :rotfl:

We are gonna hold you to that! Anyone have room for a ticker to make sure she does this by Christmas?? My signature is full. Come on, someone volunteer!

:rotfl2: We'll get back late on Dec 19, so don't look for it before then. ;) Probably the 23nd or 23rd. It's a good thing my DH already knows I'm nuts and will indulge me. :thumbsup2 I can just picture trying to hurry and get a picture while he's in the shower or something. :rotfl:

I think you are forgetting that I am planning on roasting a pig in the jacuzzi......

We will have to do the soup in the other bath tub.:cheer2:

I was wondering when someone would mention the cooking possibilities that you can have with a tub. Too bad you can't get the temperature of the water hot enough to boil some spaghetti.

This thread is bringing back a lot of old DIS memories. :lmao:

You can't roast a pig in a jacuzzi. Jacuzzis are for steaming.

Oh now you gave me an idea! My husband can put some raw chicken and veggies in his bathing suit pockets, get in the jacuzzi and have dinner ready for us after he gets out! Thanks! :thumbsup2

Too bad he looks like a girl in that picture.

You mean it's NOT???

Don't forget baggies. Unless chlorine is your idea of seasoning. If it is, enjoy for free seasoning!

No. Furthest I got to "cooking" was buying (what the heck are they called? The quick water boiling thingee's?? Hot Pots? I have no idea....) to boil water for my french press coffee.

Here...one of these things:

I will admit that we used to travel with one of those for about 2 years because my "angel" youngest DD had to have instant oatmeal the second she awoke from sleeping in the morning. She would sit up in bed and say "oatmeal!" So, we took one to heat water with to make instant oatmeal every morning, just for her. I hate the stuff and so does she now:rotfl:

I guess that qualifies as cooking in the hotel room!

This thread is cracking me up! I never got to read the famous canned corn thread, but I've heard it mentioned so many times. However cooking birthday cake in a room is new to me. Wow, how did I miss that one? Bet it was a doosie!

We like to stay at the Poly because we can catch koi fish in the lobby. Then we gather bamboo from the gardens and smoke the fish in the bathtub. We aren't able to visit the parks, or swim, or shop, or enjoy ourselves in anyway, due to the time it takes but we save an enormous amount on our dining bill and last year got to meet the local fire department. It was magical. We plan to do it again as soon as we can legally change our names and buy new fishing gear...

Thats quite resourceful. Good for you!

Here's another tip...the torches along the walkways/observation areas at Animal Kingdom Lodge...great for roasting hot dogs. Just stand on a rocker to reach them. No one should mind. Hey...don't they have a bonfire/campfire area as well? You can have a regular wild west cookout on those fires. Inside AKL is a fireplace/pit you can sit around there as well. Just get your pots and pans and head to the lobby for a home-cooked meal.

We have never cooked in a standard hotel room, that is really disgusting that people would use an iron to cook.
We only cook in our room when our accomodation has the facilities to do so, and even then we prefer eating out :lovestruc

Hmmm, a smoked koi fish sandwich sounds pretty good right now. And what a bonus to meet the fire dept! You really know how to plan a great trip!

Ohhh, I think Wilderness Lodge has a big fireplace. I don't remember though. We have only been there once, we had enough rolls of pennies to buy cokes to visit Whispering Canyon Cafe.

Not talking cold sandwiches or cereal. I mean cook as in crock pot and/or using the iron to make grilled cheese sandwiches.

In a normal hotel room (no kitchenette) just beds, tv and bathroom, how much cooking do you do that involves plugging in a major appliance?

I'm just curious because I was told recently that I should start checking the hotel irons for food residue because people use them to make food.

totally admit that this never crossed my mind and was wondering how many people do this.

We'll do cold stuff but as for actually cooking something? Not at all. I don't like the idea. and cooking using something like an iron? come on people - make a sandwich instead.
I'd hate to have to smell what other people are cooking in nearby rooms too. Alot of smells make me sick.

In addition alot of hotels don't want people to cook in their rooms because the smell gets in everything - curtains, bedding, carpet. Ick.

I just stayed in a motel with a kitchen and they even had a list of items they didn't want you to cook. No bacon/sausage. No fish of any type. no curry to be used in cooking. There were other things on the list as well. If you cooked anything that left a smell after check out, it was an automatic 200.00 cleaning fee.

Don't forget about the campfire sing-a-long at Fort Wilderness too. Perfect for cooking anything on a stick!

There's nothing like the smell of smoking fish to make you feel like you're on vacation.

I think lots of other guests enjoyed it too. When we came down in the morning we saw people pointing at us and waving their arms. Some of the men looked angry. I think they were a tiny bit jealous that their wives weren't cooking for them in their rooms.

You mean you didn't bonfire on the beach? Maybe you should try for that next time...
