My best friend has recently decided that I would be a perfect match for one of our classmates. I've never met him, only heard stories about him and seen pictures on Facebook. I have to admit, he is very cute! I've always been a little wary of blind dates but she swears up and down that we would get along swimmingly and that he's a great guy.

I'm thinking of going for it! My best friend knows us both really well and I figure I haven't got much to lose. He sounds kind, focused, funny and sweet- and we share very similar beliefs. How bad can coffee and a trip to the bookstore get?

Anyone here ever been on a blind date? How did it go? Any horror stories?

My husband was a blind date! Go for it!

And at least you saw his picture. We didn't know what each other looked like, except for descriptions given by our friends.

I went on a few blind dates back before I was married. None of them resulted in finding my One & Only, but they were fun. What's the worst that can happen? You don't have chemistry? He has bad breath and bad manners? You waste an hour of your life? I say, as long as you meet in a public place and don't go off alone with him, go for it. You never know. He may be The One. Or he may have a friend who is The One.

Yep, and we've been married for the 35 years.:lovestruc Go for it, you have nothing to loose.
By the way, my daughter also went on a blind date with her now boyfriend. They've been dating for over a year..and things are lookin' serious.:rolleyes1
Who knows..if you venture outside of your comfort zone..you might be pleasantly surprised.:thumbsup2

If you consider meeting somebody from an online thing a blind date, yes I have.

Hilarity did not ensue...

I have never been on a blind date, but I think that you should go for it!

I have always wanted to introduce a couple who later got married. My father has introduced 3 couples who all later married (they have all been married 25+ years).

Good luck and have fun!

I say go for it. You never know................

DH and I met through the newspaper personals (before the Internet hit big) so I guess it was a blind date. We will be married 15 yrs this August!

I have been married for 30 years to my first blind date. You never know who you will meet. Go for it.

I know, thank goodness for social networking, right?

I think I'm going to do it!:goodvibes I would definitely make sure it was in a public place even though my friend knows him pretty well, and would not go off anywhere with him.

Some fun stories on here!:goodvibes

I met my husband on a blind date. We've been married 26 years.

I met my husband on a blind date too! And before that I dated a guy for about a year and a half that I met on a blind date. Have a good time!

Once, maybe 28 years ago or so. It was very uncomfortable for the both of us. We were alone, it would have been more comfortable with another couple I think.

Once, many years ago I was a waitress in the summers. I had a regular table every Saturday. They were a cute nice couple. Well they had a son that would be "perfect" for me. So yes I went.

The funny part is that when he showed up my mom answered the door and he thought she was his date. She said the look on his face was priceless. Quite frankly though he was closer to my mom's age. I was 18 he was 32. (now I think ewwwww) we dated for a while when he started pushing vacation together I broke up with him.

But I say go!

I got roped into a blind date 22 years ago. Literally, I did not want to go. We went out on a THURSDAY night, because I didn't want to waste any part of the weekend on a bad blind date.

Our 21st anniversary is coming up next month.

Of course......

Some ok & some terrible.

Finally met my husband 9 years ago with an online dating service & we've been married for almost 7~

I was set up by a friend's aunt who swore I would be perfect for this guy. Yeah...he looked like a bowling pin with a porn stache and was stuck in the 70s.

Never again on blind dates.

I also met my DH on a blind date. :lovestruc Our 18th anniversary is this year.

I almost didn't go, because the last blind date (before him) was kind of a disaster. My best friend had a coworker who was always talking about this great guy who was friends with her DH and she couldn't understand why he was still single. He was good-looking, had a good job, was nice, yada yada yada. And my friend said the same about me. So they decided we'd be perfect for each other. The only thing was, neither of them mentioned ages. I was 21, this guy was 42. It was like being out with my dad! LOL! I know there are couples "out there" with age gaps like this, but it was just totally wrong for me. The night couldn't end soon enough.

Obviously, I'm glad I gave DH a chance. :cloud9:

Worst thing that can happen is you lose a couple of hours of your life - and then you get a funny story out of it. :rotfl2:

Meeting DH was pretty much a blind date. A couple of friends of mine had talked to me about him almost a year before we met, but he had been temporatily stationed in NY, when he came back he had a girlfriend, but that didn't last long, so they brought him over to one of the friends house one Sunday afternoon and we have been together ever since, that was 10 years ago.
