Ever been on a blind date? Update pg 3!

Yes, and I hated it. I went with my friend and her boyfriend to their friend's house. I was the friend's date. He was a lot older than me and just kind of strange. He would alternately ignore me completely and sit next to me and act like we were an old couple. I did like his dog, though.

DH was a blind date. This summer we'll be married 27 years. :thumbsup2

ETA: In all fairness, it took his cousin 6 weeks to talk me into the blind date.

yes, one and only one.. he showed up in piano key suspenders:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Than again I was 16 and he was around 19/20 many moons ago.

Met my DH on a blind date ... We will be celebrating our 20th Wedding Anniversary this year :lovestruc ...

I met my best friend on a blind date 24yrs ago. My friend was going out with his friend who was on leave from the military for just that weekend. She begged me to go so that she could see the friend. I was very uncomfortable the whole time since my friend and the other guy were all over each other(they were 19 & 20-I was 18) So it was very awkward until they had a fight and left us alone. We started getting to know each other and dated for about 5 months before we determined that we wanted different things. We've been best friends ever since. (Before I met dh, that blind date set me up with his friend which was a disaster.) So I would say go for it!

I am currently married to the last blind date I went on.:goodvibes Our best friend introduced us while we were in college.

Of course, she now claims we owe it to her to return the favor and find her a husband.

Met my dh through a newspaper personal ad (a friend of mine placed for me because she figured, if she was going to do it, so should I). We met 14 years ago and we'll be married 12 years in May.

I meet my husband on a blind date. We will be married 37 years this summer.

Go for it!!

I also met my husband on a blind date! I did have one years before that and I talked to him on the phone and he had a really sexy cowboy voice and when I showed up he was a freaking troll!

I met my husband on a blind date so I'm all for them!! I admit I was dragging my feet, didn't want to do it, but we met somewhere neutral (lunch out) and it was horrible! Neither one of us could talk where it made any sense. I thought he was adorable but figured he thought I was a loser. On the drive home, I just gave up and thought oh to heck with it-- let myself relax and laughed and he did the same. We got married. :goodvibes

I dated a lot, so I went on a fair number of blind dates. Once, a friend set me up with a guy and I was to double date with her and her BF. (Her BF worked with a relative of my date, who was visiting from out of town.) By the time the date night rolled around. I had convinced myself that I was about to go out with a Bubba, mainly because she said he rode in rodeos, plus a few other things. I nearly didn't answer the door. In fact, I made her come to the door and not my date, so she could give me a report on him. She said he was nice-looking. I told her she was a liar. :lmao: But I went out and got in the car.

For a while, I didn't even look at him. Finally, he kept talking to me, so I had to look his way. Shazam! He was GORGEOUS! What a doll! And he was funny too. We had one great night, then he went back to his home state. And I had nearly talked myself out of going!!!!!!

Glad I didn't!

Add me to the list of blind dates that ended up in marriage. We met 15 years ago and will be married for 14 years in April. I say go for it----you NEVER know what will happen.

My best friend has recently decided that I would be a perfect match for one of our classmates. I've never met him, only heard stories about him and seen pictures on Facebook. I have to admit, he is very cute! I've always been a little wary of blind dates but she swears up and down that we would get along swimmingly and that he's a great guy.

I'm thinking of going for it! My best friend knows us both really well and I figure I haven't got much to lose. He sounds kind, focused, funny and sweet- and we share very similar beliefs. How bad can coffee and a trip to the bookstore get?

Anyone here ever been on a blind date? How did it go? Any horror stories?

I went on a blind date. Last date I had that wasn't with my wife.

My now wife was a platonic friend at the time. She and a girlfriend of hers set up their male platonic friends with the other girl. The guy my now wife was set up with was a total geek. I though she deserved better (namely me). I wound up talking with my friend (not my date) until the wee hours of the morning. We were engaged 4 months later, married 10 months after the blind date, which was almost 15 yrs ago.

Interestingly, another friend of mine had tried to set me up with the same girl. She ignored me the first time.

I've been on a little over a handful of blind dates. None of them went further than one date but I don't regret going out. It was a little uncomfortable trying to get out as quickly as possible with a couple of them. I used to think "Oh, I'll just give it a shot. If nothing else I'll just have good conversation and maybe a friend at the end of the night". Um, no. I couldn't even hold a conversation with a couple of them and it was unbelievably awkward. I couldn't WAIT to get home. But you never know until you try!

I had one blind date. It did not go well.

He was a 21 or 22 year old police officer, and probably shouldn't have been in that position of power. He took me to dinner then dessert, then wanted to show me where his parents *used to* live, which was off in the woods, and it was creepy to be sitting there out on the road looking down at his former home. Creepier still is that I knew, because he showed me, that his gun was in the trunk and we were completely alone. Finally I convinced him to take me home (we lived in the same big apartment complex), he insisted I come up to his place to meet his roommate. His roommate and his girlfriend were in an argument, and my date for some reason thought it was a great moment to start cleaning his gun.

I finally got out of there (b/c I had class the next morning), walked to my place, got inside, got ready for bed, got into bed, and the phone rang. It was the date, who then said, in a very accusatory tone, "I THOUGHT you were going to bed!" Aughhhhhhhhh.

I went to class the next day, told my friend very bluntly that she was never EVER to set me up again, and let everyone know that if something weird happened to me, that it was likely this guy's doing (and gave his name to all sorts of my friends). Thankfully, the only thing weird that happened was that I was pulled over for speeding, but that was by the highway patrol not the normal cops, and I *think* they are unrelated...and, well, I was speeding and deserved the ticket LOL.

Figured you needed at least one negative story to go with all the "I married my blind date" stories you've gotten! I never went on another blind date again. I can't trust my friends' judgment.

I had a blind date 28 years ago and have been married to him for over 26 years.

Go on a double date to somewhere public with the person who wants to set you up. We went to a baseball game.

I went on a blind date with my DH 13 years ago. We have been married for 11+ years and have 3 chldren. My parents also met on a blind date, so my mom talked me into going> They have been married 38 years!

I am loving all the stories!

Well, we have set a date and have been texting a little to get things all sorted out. He seems like a very sweet guy and I am actually getting really excited! Thanks so much for the little push, everyone.:goodvibes I will let y'all know how it goes!

I also married my blind date. We will be married 14 years in November.

My parents were also set up by a family member and they are celebrating 40 years in March.

I moved back to my home city after a HORRIBLE break up. I transferred to another location of the restaurant that I worked for and met a couple that I really liked. We added another girl and the 4 of us moved in together. "Thad"(the male of the couple) kept telling me about his friend "Dane" he wanted me to meet. BEGGING me to go out with him.

3 days after my birthday, "Thad" (a guitarist) was playing a show at a local bar and set me up to meet "Dane". I sooooo didn't want to go. I wore overalls, that's how much I didn't want to be there. I met "Dane" and it was very very awkward. About 15 minutes later his band took the stage and my jaw dropped. His lead singer was sooooooo hot!!!! He looked like Lou Diamond Phillips in Young Guns. I mean smoking hot. We now have 3 kids that look just like him!

So while I didn't marry my date, I sure got a lot out of that show! :lmao:
