Well.........this stupid medicaid crap is for the birds, and HIPPA can go somewhere else..
Today I found out the state has 3 days to respond to the hospitals request for a waiver to a rehab facility...then it has 14 days to process that request.
I basically said- she wont be here for 2 more weeks...just not gonna happen...
She walked down the hallway and 1/2 way back to her room today- and they took her bedside commode away- so she has to get up and walk to the bathroom (with assistance- 2 nurses)..
She seems to be doing better...but I'm not sure whats going on and here's why
I just called- she said the social worker came in tonight and said that she thinks the waiver will be denied- this means they consider my mom to be a "low risk" and will not allow the rehab...for a double pelvic fracture, with cerebellar ataxia on top of it, and 2 staples in her head.
I called the nurses station to find out what was going on, well hippa blippa crappa- they werent going to tell me anything. I finally got the charge nurse on the phone and said listen- i've been there since day 1, I'm almost 3 hours away, my mother heard something she thinks today and I'm trying to find out whats going on, you can go down to her room and ask her if you can tell me, she will okay it..b.lah blah blah- she went down and mom said- to please tell me what was going on....she came back- I said- listen, unless your going to discharge her and leave her on the street corner in a wheelchair- I need to know...I will be the one coming to get her...
Of course- then there was nothing in the chart, except that they were still waiting for the waiver...........WTH!.....
I need a drink..........
Hopefully tomorrow when I get the social worker on the phone, I'll find out what is going on

My 80+ y/o mother was admitted to a hospital this summer and I live 500 miles away. She gave the hospital a codeword, and when I called for info I had to give codeword on the phone in order for them to answer my questions, give info, etc. It worked well, and I didn't have to sign anything.... Suspect something like this exists at most hospitals. I did have to sign a form to talk with her insurance company about claims, etc.
