Evening EMH - how do they work?

I understand the concept of the parks being open later at night (or earlier in the a.m.) I get the a.m. EMHs - you get to the park early and show your resort "key", my question is, and this may be a dumb question but we haven't been to WDW for years, if a park has evening EMHs, is that for resort guests only as well? if so, what happens to all the other guests already in the park? I thought I read somewhere that they used to distribute rubber wrist bands to resort guests, but don't do that any longer - how do they distinguish between guests?:confused3 - is there a board that explains all this? thanks

-------EVENING EMH FACTS -------------------------------------
If it is a EVENING EMH, then WDW resort guests staying on-property will be allowed to stay and ride attractions at THAT park on THAT day for THREE HOURS after the posted closing time. (Don't worry that the site says, "UP TO 3 hours." Thats just legalese... EMH will be 3 hours in the evening.)
You do NOT have to be in the park BEFORE scheduled closing time.
You CAN enter the park at any time during EMH and still get a wristband.
You can leave and re-enter the park at will (just like any normal time).

(So, YES, if MK is sched. to close at midnight, the EMH will run til 3AM! Yep, that's 3 in the morning. No, its not a mistake, that would be 3 full hours after the posted time.)
At Epcot, all of the EMH attractions in both FW and WS will remain open. (Ignore FW's "7pm Closing Time".)

All adults and children 3 years and older will be issued a room key-card when you check in to your WDW resort (if they are listed on your ressie). If they are not issued a key-card, you will have problems with EMH, because EACH guest (except for very small children under 3 years) will need to show a room key-card to a CM at each attraction's entrance queue. Those guests 3 and over without a key-card are not permitted to enter the queues to ride the attractions.
So, make SURE the check-in desk issues EACH person in your party a room key-card. An adult can hold onto all the cards for the kids, but don't forget to bring the cards to the park.
Even though non-resort guests may still be INSIDE the park, only those with WDW Resort key-cards will be allowed to ride any operating EMH attractions.

thanks for the info - I was wondering how they distinguish from resort and non-resort guests - I thought Disney might have a transporter beam that beamed up the non-resort guests at closing time and deposited them outside the ticket gates!:) We have stayed off site in the past and this is our first time staying on Disney property.

thanks for the info - wasn't sure how they would distinguish between resort guest and others,

This is probably a really stupid question, but are FP's available during evening EMH and if so, they don't carry over from the day waits, do they?

PM EMH-

FP's issued during the regular hours are timed so that those guests who have them can ride during regular hours.
(No FP's would be issued during the day that would have a Return Time during PM EMH.)

So, if the regular hours FP's "run out" during the day, when PM EMH begins...
that means that there would "suddenly" be 3 additional hours of time in which they COULD issue new EMH FastPasses.

WILL that happen?

Depends on the crowd situation.

They DO offer FP during PM EMH...

BUT... not for EVERY one of the PM EMHs and not on every attraction that's open.

Whether any given attraction will have FP during a PM EMH totally depends on those who manage the rides for that PM EMH.

It can change with each PM EMH or during the EMH, with no advance notice, so it does no real good, for the purposes of prediction, to say if they DID or DID NOT on any previous PM EMH.

IF the FP machines are operating during PM EMH, they "start again" at the beginning of the EMH.

If you had a "left-over" FP from earlier in that same day, and they where operating the FP queue, the CMs would likely honor it.

It is "iffy" if they will offer PM EMH FP's
at Toy Story Mania at DHS.

When they did offer them, there have been reports of LINES FORMING at the TSM FastPass machines starting about 30 minutes
before PM EMH (and FP distribution for it) begins.

is there a list anywhere of those that "typically" reopen the FP line? From what we saw last night at DHS, they do not reopen midway mania but do reopen rock n roller. I couldn't tell about tower of terror but based on the line, I suspect they re-opened it as well. There was no need for FP on Star Tours or ariel.

Is this line left over from an older version of the EMH explanation? No wristbands currently are used for evening EMH AFAIK.

It varies and from what I've read is dependant upon the ride manager that night. Sometimes they will open FP for PM EMH, sometimes they do not.
