Even with Health Issues, I am not giving up on Disney World

Hi! Even though I have health issues, I am not giving up on Disney World. My health issues are difficulty walking, anxiety, and clinical depression. I just spent the majority of my October Disney World trip days laying in my Pop Century room bed, but I am ok with that; at least I still got to go on my solo trip. In the past, I could walk normally and do the Theme Park Commando thing, which I am thankful about. Now the health issues are so strong, that I curl up in my resort bed and rest, and try to get enough energy to go to the next meal. I have to ask myself, why do I travel 11 hours to Disney, if all I can do is lay in my Pop Century room? Well, it helps me feel better to be there. Today I made a Disney World reservation for next spring. I want to go again, even if all I can do is lay in my room. I can get up and do a little bit. This trip I went to the Magic Kingdom one day for a little while, rode one ride and had lunch, and then had to return to my resort room because that was all I can do. I am ok with that. I am happy I had a number of trips before I got sick, when I could do more things. Now it makes me happy to have happy Disney memories and to be able to participate as I can, even if participating is just me alone, laying down in my resort room. I am thankful to be able to do this much. I'm not giving up. I hope you will have good Disney trips, too.

I've had those days every now and then even at WDW. The hard part for me is waiting for the housekeeping visit. I hate turning them away but sometimes I'm just not up to getting out of their way.

Go and enjoy your trips as much as you can.

Thanks for the inspiration Regina!

Bill, on our recent trip to DL I hit a wall mid-afternoon and needed to rest. We put out the Do Not Disturb sign on the door handle as the housekeeper had not happened by yet. We just called down later for some fresh towels. No more getting stressed about rest vs. housekeeping!

Pooh2, yea I agree with the Do Not Disturb sign. But on my last trip I put out the sign and Housekeeping walked in on me just as I was getting out of the shower. Luckily my back was to the door and they didn't see anything but we were both pretty embarrased. Later that day I noticed my sign was gone, I guess someone took it off sometime in the night.

Yikes!! Guess I will have to remember to flip that little lever on the door once I am inside resting so no one is disturbed!

I'm kind of in your same situation although I am hopeful to be able to do more on my upcoming trip in two weeks. I haven't been to WDW in over 10 years, maybe 15 years...time goes by so fast.

I have Stage 4 Lung cancer so I'm pretty sure this will be my last trip. Not just because of the cancer but having to suddenly retire at the age of 52 because of it didn't leave me with much notice on retirement. I'm sure I won't be spending money like this in the future.

I'm so hoping to be able to walk to world. I know all about the scooters and if I can't walk I will get one, but I just want to walk slowly around and take it all in instead of having to focus on driving a scooter.

I'm hoping to get the DAS card. I never had before, never even heard of such a pass, but am really hoping I can rest outside of some of the lines. I'm on chemo every three weeks so I'm hoping they will understand. We will see. If not it won't be the end of the world and like I mentioned, I never even knew about these before.

I got the free dining and tons of ADRs already made at some great places. I will be going by myself, my friends just can't make it. In a way, I prefer it this way this time. I don't have to worry about keeping up or feeling like I need to do so much more.

I can hardly wait for all the goodies at the parks. Don't know why, but everything always tastes so good there.

I'm looking forward to being at the All Star Music again. I use to stay there so it will be like going home.

I plan to take the parks in little slices with lots of rest in between. But I did splurge and buy tickets to MVMCP for two nights that I will be there!!!! I so enjoyed this years ago and am looking forward to it again.

May you have a wonderful trip and make memories that will carry you through the tough days!

I forgot to put out the DND sign one afternoon when I was resting, and when the Mousekeeper arrived I asked if she'd just leave clean towels. I had to sign a paper saying I didn't want the room cleaned! I guess they have to protect themselves against people complaining if their rooms don't get done.
