Even more memory maker questions

Thinking about adding the MM package to an upcoming trip in May.

I will be there for 7 days but will be under two different reservations.
Will it cover my whole trip? Will the family members that are coming for the second reservation be able to use it with their magic bands? We might not all be in the same place at the same time.

Also are the photographers only at the parks and character meals?
What if we wanted to have a photo taken before we go out for dinner one evening. ( Special event) Can you make arrangements for a photographer to take pictures?
Years ago I did a photo session with the family... is that still a separate photo package?

I have been reading about it and I see that getting at least 10 photos make it worth while. We don't usually stop at all the photo sites or do characters but this year with our granddaughter it sounds like it might be worth it.

I loved having Photopass and will love MM this Christmas. I have used it with a group of 18 and a group of two and got more than my $ worth of great pictures. With kids it is so great at character meet and greets as they take a lot of pre-meet candid shots of the kids spotting the character and going in for a hug - things you would likely miss taking your own pix. The kids enjoy finding the photographers and posing for the shots - we always wind up with hundreds of pix to add borders and autographs and stamps to. When our group of 18 went, we wound up with 900 original shots and had over 3000 once everyone added the borders they wanted to their original shots. When just a friend and I went for the F&W festival, we had over 300 and got some great special shots with the characters and balloons added in. It is a purchase I will always add to my visits even if I have to cut other corners to do it.

Yes, it will cover your whole trip.

Yes, the family members coming with the second reservation will be able to use it with their magic bands. You need to make sure that you are linked as friends and family and that everyone that owns a MDE account has given permission to view/purchase photos for it to work. You do not have to be together for this to work.

There are photographers at the parks at various stations as well as the most character meets. There are photographers at most character meals, but they are only there for the before-the-meal photo (most of which do not include the characters). However, the before the meal photos are no longer offered for sale at the table and I think as of the new year they will no longer be given at CRT or Akershus, so if you think you would like those (if you intend to eat at any of those places), they would still be included with MM. They do NOT take your photo with the characters that come around to the tables. Ride photos are also included with MM.

Disney still does have a photography service and it is still a separate package.


The worth of MM is dependent on the individual/family. I have heard some people come back and complain that they didn't get many pictures and that the quality of the pictures was terrible. I had the opposite experience and from our trip this summer with our family of 8, we ended up downloading over 2300 pictures (I estimate about 1600-1700 of them are original photos). Were all of them fantastic photos? No, but I have more than enough great ones to choose from. For me it was worth it because I am actually in the pictures. Also, it is nice to have some shots of the whole family or of my husband and I which I wouldn't normally get. The photographers can also do magic shots which can be very cute (I have some of my daughters holding Tink and Chip). With the MM you can also add Disney stickers and borders to the pictures after the trip. If you are planning to do a lot of character meets it also makes it very worthwhile. The photographers took many candid shots when my kids walked up to the characters, shots that I wouldn't have been in place in time to catch with my camera or wouldn't have thought to take. This also allowed me to interact with the characters, which I was previously unable to do when taking pictures myself. We got some great ones of my husband dancing with Goofy, Mickey whispering in my daughter's mouse ears, and my son pondering something that Elsa told him. It is also nice if you plan on doing PL or BBB, as those shots are included. Another thing to consider is rides. If you will be doing a lot of the rides that have pictures, those are included with the MM. In addition, TOT and 7DMT have ride videos that can be downloaded with the purchase of MM.
