Just wanted to share my experience with Wolfgang Puck's at Downtown Disney. I won't be eating there again.
On Thursday December 8, 2011, my DBF and I went to Wolfgang's to grab a quick bite to eat after a day spent at Universal. It was a bit crowded but we wanted to go ahead and eat so we opted to sit at the bar.
The first person to greet us took our drink order and let us know who our waitress would be. Our server Chrissy came over and brought our drinks. The menu at Wolfgang's was kind of limited but we both found something to eat. He ordered a Caesar salad and the spicy spaghetti with shrimp. I ordered spicy tuna roll and the chicken penne alfredo.
We had issues with our server and the food for the entire night. She was the most non-engaging server that I have ever experienced at Disney. She barely spoke to us and hardly came around to ask questions about our food once she brought it out.
My spicy tuna roll was fine and his caesar salad came out ok. Here is where we started to have issues. When they brought out the food, I noticed that my alfredo sauce had seized a little bit. Not enough for me to send it back since I was tired but I did notice it. The BF did not fair as well. He started to eat the pasta and found that it was not done. I know some people will say it was al dente but it was not done. I even tasted it to be sure.
We had to ask for someone to send our server over so that we could send it back. She took the food back and then brought over a bread basket so that he would not be hungry. I must admit, the BF was quite perturbed and would not even speak to her. Combo of hunger and annoyance at bad service, so I had to do most of the talking.
When his food came back it was obviously hot but here is where he went from annoyed to PO'd. Instead of making fresh food, the cook obviously put the entire dish of food back in the water cooked it a little longer, drained it and then sent it back out.
In the case of a steak or chicken, not being done enough, I do not have any issues with cooking the same piece of meat longer however this was pasta. We could see that there was water in the bottom of the plate and the garnish that was on the original plate was mixed in still. All the flavoring had been diluted.
Our server was nowhere to be found so I went to the hostess desk to ask the manager be sent to our table. When I got back our server was there, I explained to the manager that it was not acceptable for pasta with sauce to just be put back into water with the sauce and re-served. She asked if he wanted something different or if we wanted to still eat the food and she would still take it off the bill or pack up the food so we could eat it later. I found that to be a little insulting because it looked like we were trying to scam free food instead of having her address a legitimate problem with a pretty plain pasta dish. I was not looking for anything free, I wanted to make her aware of the problem and have it be fixed. We may have decided to get something else but the service was so poor by the waitress that we just wanted to leave.
We were expected better food and service at a restaurant carrying the Wolfgang Puck name. My BF even mentioned it in the car while we were on our way to Pollo Campero for his dinner.
I am writing a letter to Disney as well and I don't expect anything except to let them know the service was poor and the food was bad on December 8, 2011.
