OK, I know we all feel comfortable on the Official Bad Parents thread, but surely sometimes we slip up and do something nice, or unexpected, or special for our children. So here's the place to confess it - not that you'll be likely to repeat it, of course...

This morning I left DD11 sleeping while I went to Chik-Fil-A and bought her chicken minis - just because she likes them. Later, At Target, I saw a new DVD of Halloweentown and Halloweentown 2, so I bought it for her (have to admit to an ulterior mtotive here, though - she'll tape them and take up space on my DVR when they come back on this month, and now I'll have two hours to do something I want to do tonight, so technically that purchase is both a good mother AND a bad mother moment.)

What nice things have you done for your children?

Tomorrow is DS' 2nd birthday party. There will be about 60 people coming-all family. I am cooking a rice, chicken, noodles, lasagne, salads, etc ALL by myself. DH's job is keeping the kids entertained so I can get most things done by tomorrow. Plus I made a huge cake too.

I consider that nice :)

Took DD to lunch, shopping, and to starbucks today.

I cleared a space on my craft table so DS could draw, color, and cut Halloween pictures here next to me while I am DISing.

I bought my kids books today at Barnes and Noble. I also bought them the majority of their Christmas presents. Of course, they don't know this. :goodvibes

I have had 3 kids with the stomach flu this week, 'nuff said.

I got all three girls shirts from Target today.

I'm about to sit down and read through a Halloween craft book with dd8 :wizard:

Im going on about 3 hours of sleep and a pot of coffee. lol.

Thanks for starting this thread. I really like the idea of it.

DH and I got away from the Dis, took my DD's 30 miles north with a group of friends and froze our buns off at a cedar mill. We had a fun time, corn maze, playground, hay bals to play on, hunted houses, pumkin pacth, hay rides. A bunch of DD's best freinds were there too. Got my oldest ( 4) dounuts, but didn't eat any myself because the youngest is still breast feeding and allergic to eggs and milk so I can't eat them (that is an act of love I tell you.)

What is funny is what many would consider good mom (thing kids like, buying things, ect...) some might consider bad. All a mater of perspective. (like you mentioned in your 1st post DVCliz.)

Thats the funny thing about the 'Bad Parents' Thread - a lot of the things i posted I thought were GOOD but figured someone else wouldn't!
I picked up DD-11 from Cheering and bought her cotton candy too!
I played 'Train' with DS - 4
and I cuddled dd - 1.2 a LOT today since she is sooo sick...
:)

Took DS4 to watch Wallace & Gromit, he got his own popcorn. Then tonight we got the kids a box of legos. Toys r Us has this box of 1500 pieces + free 500 bricks for $20. So they get another toy.

Good luck, and I hope everybody feels better soon.

Something I discovered, for what it's worth, was that when the kids were sick that those disposable plastic gloves were great for cleaning up messes and then tossing. I also wiped down the toilet including flush handle and sinks including handles and faucets with a bleach solution, and washed my hands even more than usual.

Yesterday at the post office DD (2 yrs old) fell in LOVE with the pink Breast Cancer awareness teddy bear. Lots of hugging and kissing. But there were two on the shelf, and so she picked up the other one....... I bought them both!! :)

I usually didn't get it when all 4 of mine were puking. My washmachine was non stop. I was so happy when they made it to the toilet, or in a bucket. If you get it, it is when everyone is sound asleep and no one hear's you. In the morning, they all find you sleeping next to the toilet and wonder what you are doing.

Actually I think the Chicken Pox was the worst, thank goodness a vaccination is out now.
