Since I am techinally a "newbie" to Disney (only been once), I am not familiar with the EVCs. I may need one as I have a bad knee, I am hoping that pain pills and a knee brace will be all I need, but if I start really hurting I may need to rent an ECV. If I just get one at Disney, how much do they cost and where do I get them? Thanks! ::MickeyMo

ECVs (Electric Convenience Vehicles) can be rented at each of the 4 theme parks. I believe they are located at the same place as the parks' stroller rentals.

AllEarsNet has several excellent pages on the subject, including this excellent synopsis on the Anita Answer page:

Electronic Convenience Vehicles (ECV's) are available for daily rental at each of the parks. They cost approximately $30 per day, and will require an additional deposit on a credit card. Guests only pay for the ECV rental once per day, so keep your receipt if you change parks or go back to your hotel to rest mid-day. When you return to a park, simply show your receipt at the rental desk to get another ECV. Try to get to the rental area when the parks open, as quantities are limited and the ECV's tend to rent out quickly. You may want to read All Ears Net's™ Wheelchair/Scooter/ECV FAQ to begin to get familiarized with using an ECV in the parks.

Where to find ECV rentals in the parks:

Animal Kingdom: ECV and Wheelchair rental is inside the turnstiles to the far right.
Disney-MGM: Rent wheelchairs and ECV's at Oscar's Service Station, which is just inside the turnstiles and to the right.
Epcot Main Entrance: ECV and Wheelchair rental is inside the turnstiles to the left of the fountain just before Spaceship Earth.
Epcot International Gateway: Rent ECV's and wheelchairs inside the turnstiles in the tiny shop to the left.
Magic Kingdom: ECV rental is just inside the turnstiles to the right.

Hope you and your family have a splendid time at the World!

If you need the scooter all the time, renting one for the duration of your trip from an outside company is a better and cheaper option, as you'll get a better scooter for less money and have it at your disposal for the whole trip. The biggest drawback to that is that you'll have to transport the scooter all over WDW, which can add a lot of time to catching Disney busses.

The wheelchair and ecv rental places are located at the same place as stroller rental.

One thing to keep in mind is that you can show your receipt to get another ecv at the next park you hop to if they have any when you get there. There is no guarantee that they will have one.

I see someone else already posted links to the disABILITITES Board and the disABILITIES FAQs. So, I'll just invite you to follow the links.
