Euro Magic Med 7 Night Cruise Aug 20 - 27 2011

Today we exceded the 300 posts and the 5000 visitors  and only 290 days and a wake till sailing day. :cheer2:

pixiedust: If The Disney Magic is 'a calling, You better start 'a Rocking pixiedust:

:mic: It's settled; The Disney Dream will have both horn tunes.

" Tom Wolber, chief operating officer of Disney Cruise Line, during the Toronto reveal. " The ship's horn featured prominently in "Sail Away," the line's popular bon-voyage deck party, is not a makeover. It'll toot not just the first line of "When You Wish Upon a Star," but it'll be able to answer with the song's second line: "Makes no difference who you are." The result? Disney Dream will be able to answer a passing DCL ship's call "

Now it's just perfect. Just imangine, some day beyond March 2012 the Magic, The Dream and The Fantasy will be some where side by side and the concert will be expectacular.

I wonder if the Fantasy will finish the song off with the next part

CarrianneB how was your cruise, did you have fun ? Did you leave a time capsule for all of us ? Is The Magic in ship shape conditions for a Med Cruise ? Any new recruits ?

:dance3:

The cruise was great - when can I go back again? :cool2:. The magic is doing as well as ever! I'm sure there were a few new recruits (the future cruise desk was always busy) but I didn't meet them.

Glad you had a great time. :goodvibes

I just found out that the Pope Benedict XVI will be in Spain, Madrid the week before our cruise, the is from August 16th to the 21st, 2011

He will be there for The World Youth Day.

This might affect airtravel and hotel availability even in Barcelona.

I'm going to be in Madrid from Aug 11th to the 16th then go to Batcelona by train so I wont be there for the Pope visit.

Everything will be more expensive and more crowded. Security measures will be at it's peak, airports and flights will get delaid due to more flights, etc.

If you can don't fly in the same day of the cruise. :goodvibes

OOOOH well spotted Manny :thumbsup2 Must book my hotel this week and get sorted keep putting it off :confused3

Have a nice weekend :woohoo:

Well the deed is done, flights have now been booked, so we are definately coming, yeh!!!!

We fly out the day before and fly home on the 27th. Now I have to find a hotel room. I have one in mind, just waiting for my neice to get her finger out, so I can bag her Thomas Cook discount.

Oooo and thanks for the tip about the Pope, I'll make sure I get the hotel sorted before the weekend, otherwise we may end up sleeping at the keyside, waiting for the ship to dock, if all the rooms are full.

That is wanderfull Heatherbelle, so glad you were able to book; that is the most difficult decision/step when taking a cruise ( when to take it and where it should be). Now, it's just planning and like I mentioned to Florida_Mel "Don't let it pile up till the end". :thumbsup2

Yes, the Pope's visit will affect us (not just the Holy way) for this vacation so the sooner the better. Prices will go UP, like the movie. :cloud9:

I was talking to a coworker and she is going to Madrid for the Pope Pilgrimige and her group already are 45 persons and growing; so this will get crazy and lot's more expensive eventually. She also told me that many people are going many days before becouse there are several mayor Pre-Pope arrival meetings in Madrid and othere cities; Barcelona might be one considering that it is only 2 1/2 hours from Madrid by train.

Please don't think twice to ask about hotels. We are going to be in the Majestic but the most popular one so far (for the US and UK cruisers) is the Novatell closer to the docks. :goodvibes

I've just been reading this trippee, and I thought I would share it with you. It has a ton of info on how to do your own trips rather than doing them with Disney. It also has loads of lovely photo's to get us all in the mood.
Enjoy!

Thank you Heatherbelle for recomending this trip report link and thank you DisneyFalcon for writing it :thumbsup2; I havent read it yet but it sure has wanderfull pictures. :worship:

I'm a little (just a little) upset because our travel agency sent an email saying that The Majestic Hotel in Barcelona cancelled our reservation. What ? I was like Why ? :confused3

For a moment I was blaming the poor TA atendant, but then I kept my cool , remembered we are still 9 month to go, so no big deal. I even told her to get a better room like some kind of suite or something and the answer from The Majestic was a defenatly "Sorry, we are 100% booked for those dates"

Now we are back in looking for hotel in Barcelona mode again. Probably end up in a more expensive hotel.

Expensier hotels --> cheaper shore excursions. Yeah right ! :lmao: I keep thinking that one of the joys of Europe (besides the history) is the food and when ever there is food there is wine and/or beer or something like that. That rules me out for the navigator position in the family.

Now I'm just trying to find out what might have caused for the Majestic to cancel our reservation ? Let's hope it doesn't spread to other hotels. :worried:

None the less, We are so waiting for this cruise, so how about a little pixiedust: to keep negative thoughts or sad feelings away pixiedust:

Oh that's bad news. Maybe the hotel is under the influence of the Pope. One of the hotels Patrik looks nice, the one with the green bathroom tiles. Have a look on tripadvisor, you may need more than one room, though, that's why we didn't book it, as they couldn't accomodate the three of us together.

Happy planning. Also check out the hotel Wow, looks fab but expensive.

Today is the 9 months to go day for us to be back in our home, Home Away from Home is what they tell you once you are on the ship, the very dear Disney Magic.

Also, then next time there's a Saturday 20th it will be our Saturday, August 20th 2011. ;)

If you prefer, it's only 39 weeks to go week as Florida_Mel kindly mentioned in our facebook page. :yay:

or, "Only 272 days until your cruise sets sail!" as DCL puts it. :woohoo:

Do keep in mind that to:

Book and modify port adventures
Reserve and revise spa treatments and fitness activities
Make and update dining reservations at Palo
Register children for activities*
Reserve babysitting
View and update your cruise activity reservations
View your cruise Saved Activities

Platinum Castaway Members have 120 days and that would be in February, 2011 (only 3 months away)

Gold Castaway Members have 105 days and that would be in April, 2011 (only 5 months away)

Silver Castaway Members have 90 days, that would be in May, 2011 (only 6 months away)

You see, just becouse we say we are sailing next year it's not that much far away.

A Very Happy Planning every one. :wave2: pixiedust: :wave2:

Glad you liked it Mel. :flower3:

I must ask where is everyone ? :magnify: Long time No See (chat). Are some of us having second thoughts on the cruise or jumping ship ?

Also I think we should start with designing the wrist bands, at least the design and to see the costs and how long they take to deliver etc. In first page I mention a company that makes them but I'm sure they are not the only ones, also I suggested that we go for the ones that glow in the dark, that should be fun.

I'm here:banana:

I know Bats has been poorly, and not posting at the mo, I hope she's feeling better soon. I have my flights and hotel booked, so everything is go, we will be there, unless we're all fallen out and if that's the case I'm blinkin coming on my own!!

The wristbands sound like fun, get a price Mel and we'll take it from there. I'm not very artisitic and I've never cruised before, so I don't mind what they look like. Do we have lanyards as well, do we need them? I need to sort out DS with prirate gear, anyone got any photo's of what they all wear on pirate night.

Been doing lots of investigations into trips too. I don't think I can book anything until June, I bet there's nothing left by then to book.

And I'm glad you are :flower3:

I didn't know about Bats I'm sure she will be OK in no time.

Heather you are so ahead of me, I still have to book Barcelona hotel before and after and still have to book air flight tickets; just got lazy.

I like wristbands because you wear them every where and then you get to identify people that are part of this Mouseketeers, and when they see you they say Hi and/or wave at you. Also people that are not part of the group come up to you and ask where they can get it and you get to explain about the Diss/Dibb; it's really fun. On our last cruise I brought a lady to one of the meets that wanted to enquire everything about Pre-Cruise planning threads, everyone greeted her very nice and she was hooked. :lmao: Glow in the dark wristbands are fun when at night you get to identify them from far away and kids really love it.

On our last cruise we bought all Pirate gear on the ship, mostly headbands, a pirate sword for DD and eye patch etc. Theres a lot of stuff you can get for a Disney Pirate costumes. Some things are very expensive but most of it is about the same as you can find at home.

Glad you liked it Mel. :flower3:

I know what you mean Manny :confused3 I don't think they've jumped ship and I'm sure they'll be around again at some point

Ooh good idea :thumbsup2 I'll post on our FB page too and see if we get any ideas :woohoo:

I'm more than happy to help with the design ideas etc but cannot commit to getting prices or ordering the wristbands as our website, FB page and the cocktail meet are going to take some up keep and some organising but I don't mind helping :banana::banana:
