Euro Disney?

I like your pancakes better, and with the bacon cooked inside?

Heineken is fine here, but when I'm over there, I prefer Brand... If they shipped to the States, I'd be quite happy.

I have visited Parc Asterix once, but you cannot really compare it with the Disney-themeparks. It is only open from april till october, I think, not during the winter. We were there on a weekday in May and there were maybe 20 other visitors in the park! They turned the attractions on at the moment we entered them :D We went on a Dumbo-like ride and it didn't stop at all. We spent about 25 minutes in it and then we begged the guy who worked there to stop it. He had a great laugh :D
The park is very close to DisneyLand Paris and most people go there ofcourse.
But the French love their one things ofcourse, so that's maybe why they built their own French Asterix parc.
If you're in the neighbourhood visit it, but otherwise don't bother.

Wow...so much great info. I was in Amsterdam 25 yrs agos and told my husband that we need to go (he has never been there). Now, after reading all these posts, I REALLY want to go. Anyway, I'm very excited about Disneyland Paris and I thank all of you for your posts. We are leaving for Paris April 22.

My Dutch is good for an American, but not that good. Thanks though, it reminds me of good times.

Enjoy DP!

I've been to Disneyland Paris twice.

One bit of advice, keep your hand on your wallet/bag/purse at all time. My GF got her wallet snatched; i chased the guys around the Village but lost them near the Newport Bay Hotel Lake. Disney didnt want to know. It kind of puts a bit of a dent in the magic when something like that happens.

True, I either lost or had my camera stolen out of my pocket at Disneyland Paris... I had forgotten about that. I think it was stolen but I'm not positive. It disappeared while I was on line for the Haunted Mansion. I thought I may have lost it on the ride, but the CMs helped check (I happened to remember the car number in front of me).

I spent two semesters in Limburg during college... By far my two best semesters of college. I made some great friends and go back to visit once or twice a year. The Netherlands is my second home, and if I'm not going to Disney, then I'm likely heading over there.

That museum in Amsterdam, is it the one with Marylin Monroe inside?

Well, I don't remember if Marilyn was inside or not...just remember Mom plunking down a guilder for a peep show...just to see what all the fuss was about...roflol

Fromeurope...I'd be there in a heartbeat if you offered..so you'd better not! Do you actually live in Amsterdam?

I can say that some of my best memories come from the year I spent living in the Netherlands! :cloud9: I was young, single, and the exchange rate was really good at the time! My BIL, who was stationed at Soesterburg, had a guy in his shop whose BIL was visiting for the same year I did...doing the Nanny thing for his sister, too. Eddie and I roamed the country when we could get away...he lived in Spakenburg and I was in Hooglanderveen so we'd meet at the Amersfort train station and go from there...Zeist, Haarlem, Amsterdam... And honestly, I'm more fond of a nice bottle of Amstel than Heineken. Stroopwafels were my sister's fav...

This may sound crazy, but whenever I smell fresh manure I think of the Netherlands...our home was in a small town, out the front door and to the left were horses, sheep and a field that was always sprayed with organic fertilizer, out of the back door and down the stree a few houses were the cattle...ah, the freshness of the country! I love it and miss it! So that smell is a good one for me.

Well, now that I miss the Netherlands a bit more, I will go...thanks for sharing my love of the country everyone!

I wish I can go to Nederland soon. I haven't visited my relatives for quite a number of years since my great grandfather passed away (he lived there).

Talking about places I wish to go to, I wish to go (and stay for good) in Australia. Used to live there and made the foolish mistake of moving to Canada.

Hi Momsgoofy,
I live in a suburb of Amsterdam, is that good enough :D ?
But as you maybe know the houses in the cities here aren't very big, so don't bring your whole family please :D  :teeth:
And were I live you will not smell manure at all, only cars, and buses and maybe airplanes, because it's very close to Schiphol (Amsterdam Airport).
But enough joking here, I think it's wonderfull that you have so many good memories of the Netherlands, that's really nice to read.

And Fatcow,
I think Australia is great as well. I have an uncle living there, but is is soo far away to visit... So I have only been there once, but I really enjoyed it a lot.

Oh and Dbanzai there actually is a wax statue of Marilyn Monroe at the Madame Tussauds in Amsterdam.

i'm happy to answer any questions you might have about disneyland paris. dh and i were there for 3 days this past august (see my picture below). we really liked it and had a good time. :goodvibes

I heard that lining up is not the best quality in Euro Disney. Is it really that bad?

I've been to Legoland Denmark and Europa Park, the visitors wer pretty disciplined (not cutting lines)

Can I just say that whilst the europeans in general may not be good at queuing.. for the most part that British ARE good at queuing! Please dont put us in the same bracket as some of the other europeans! ;)

We good at other things too, as well as queuing.. like going to the parks wearing an entire football strip (entire families look like they are just about to have a game of football!) :confused3 , Swearing inccessantly, :earseek: and having loud arguements with our families in public places. :rolleyes1 :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

We went to DLP a few years ago, and it is like Disney world without the magic to us..
Customer service was nothing like you would expect in the USA.. its expensive and I dont know if you can now, but there seemed to be a lot of smoking around us, which I didnt really like.

However, its pretty close, and the rides are more up to date and newer than at WdW.

By the way its been "Disneyland Paris" for years and years now.. I dont quite know why the "EuroDisney" stuck....

Just pausing to rant that every time I post in the "wrong" forum, my thread is moved by the moderators in about 10 minutes, yet this thread has been up for about 2 months without being moved to the Disneyland Paris forum.

we didn't have any problems. actually - we had a great time and thought that most of the theming was even better than wdw. we had great customer service including an excellent waiter who was very friendly, and a woman working check-in at our resort. we had a great time. :goodvibes

I still remember our first DLP ride (the train over the entrance on Main Street). No real lines and everyone spread out while waiting. Parents smoking while waiting with their kids. Mothers standing in line with 4 inch heels and dressed very chic. Some very nicely dressed children, like in Sunday outfits. But once the train started pulling in, everyone started pushing forward and cutting. My husband and I learned to be human shields to stop people from walking over my 4 year old son.

I felt "goofy" wearing my Minnie T-shirts while at DLP. We stayed at Disneyland Hotel. Beautiful hotel but CMs somewhat aloof. We went to the character buffet during breakfast and dinner. Dinner was pretty sad with a lot of cold salads. Breakfast was much better.

The package prices through DLP online was very reasonable for Disneyland Hotel. But we went in September so I think it was value season. Actually, some of the CMs in the park were pretty nice, especially the ones that wore lanyards with pins. I was approached by Brits, Germans, and Danes for pin trading but no French. Weather was perfect with one day having a few sprinkles.

What was really sad is no fireworks over Magic Kingdom in Paris because the neighbors didn't like the noise and lights at night.

We really liked Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show in Downtown Disney. It was in English and really fun.

And yes, you really need to keep a close hand and eye on your stuff. My mother was almost pickpocketed while going through the turnstile in the Metro. During our Museum visit, my husband's backpack (while on his back and walking) was picked and he lost some stuff.

Glad I did it once but don't really need to visit again. Want to see Disneyland Tokyo and Hong Kong next.
