Etiquette cards for queues

I've figured it out!

Disney should get Mary Poppins out there gently correcting people.

What a perfect use (well, Practically Perfect In Every Way) to use that character! :rotfl:

And she could have cards :teeth: !

Mary Poppins! Brilliant, absolutely brilliant! Practically perfect, too!!

Can you add one more thing, specifically for my DD8?

"Please do not run your hands along every single inch of the queue rails/ropes and then play with your chewing gum/lips, etc."

Ack! She was grossing me out the whole trip back in March. What is it about young children, that they have to touch EVERYTHING???

Maybe she'll listen to someone else's mother. :confused3
THIS IS MY SON!!! Are we related? It is my older (7 yr old), my younger son (6 yr old) doesn't do this. Of course the younger one gets FILTHY standing in the middle of a spotless white room with instructions not to move :lmao:. But the touching EVERYTHING and then touching his mouth/face just grosses me out. I have tried everything to stop it. Let me know if you find the solution!! ;)

I told DH this in July when we were there--I also wanted to print stickers that said--Do you know your underware is showing? If you don't, now you know. If you do and don't care then nevermind.

OP,... your idea is good but you need to hand the cards to THE other people....use your friends to get something done.

Lets face it,... the cutters are jerks... and deep-down they know they're jerks.

If you hand the card to everyone around you that hates the cutters you might get something done.

"Disney does not allow people to stage one person in line and then bring the rest of their party foward. Don't be a door-mat, if someone tries to cut don't let them past you"

If you get 10 or 15 people around you in every line.... you've built a good defence against the few rude line-cutters that may try to sneak by.

If all the members of Dis-boards took these cards and we handed out enough of them it would become a grass-roots effert and Disney would notice that they are being shamed by their paying guest, who are doing the job that Disney should be doing.

Quite honestly if Disney posted signs about "rules" in lines, I really dont think I'd even notice... :rotfl:

For some reason, I am totally OVER stimulated when i'm in Disney, and I hardly notice ANYTHING..lol.

I've only been there 11 times and well honestly, I dont think I've even seen or done even HALF of what I want to. I hardly even remember the line "drama". I guess since we're always there on the off season, lines are never a real issue. ( unless you're riding DUMBO and that line is nuts ANY time of the day and any time of the year, but that's another post for another thread :lmao: )

UtahMama, you absolutely had me laughing outloud w/ your personal size deodorant idea! :rotfl2:

Utah Mama, I think i might have to drag around a wagon full of gift bags, filled etiquette cards, sample size deoderants, barf bags from Mission Space, small bottles of mouth wash. leashes for unruly children...Hmmm what else am I missing?

Porta-potties.

OK, so far the "Common Sense" bags contain ettiqutte cards (multi lingual of course), sample size deoderants, barf bags from Mission Space, small bottles of mouth wash. leashes for unruly children, and Porta-potties.

Anything else? Maybe some of those little bottles of airline booze for the rest of us in line when the offenders still don't get it :confused3 .

How about a bottle of Dimetapp to calm down the kids who are out of control??

KIDDING!

What if they posted signs in several languages at the beginning of the queue that said no cutting?

I mean, they've got signs out the wazoo about not to ride this ride if you have this that or the other, why not some 'expectations' signs?

I wonder if it would work?

I'm not disagreeing with you that line cutters suck, just think we all need more Hakuna Matata in our lives....

That's a good idea. Maybe a CM could walk back and forth with a sign that says "No line cutting" and people would actually see a CM trying to enforce the rule without the CM having to say anything. This way people would feel like they're really being watched. ;)

I am not encouraging fighting at WDW, I enjoy the peacefullness of the parks as much if not more than the next person. I want to maintain the quality of the parks for everyone to enjoy. But rude and inconsiderate people should not be able to do more things or wait less time than the rest of us.
Its not just at Disney either, I see this behavior everyday, in almost every situation. A friend of mine used to say that people are like this because they are allowed to get away with it. I have taken the "Just say NO" attitude. I will tell a person who tries to line jump on me "NO". If they have a problem with that they can go get a cast member.

Maybe you can get help from everybody in line. Just shout to everyone, "Hey, we gotta line cutter here. Is okay with you guys if he/she gets in front of me?" And watch him/her sheepishly go to the back of the line. :rotfl2:

Just kidding of course.

About line cutting, here's my 2p worth...

Disney rules actually do let people cut in line under some circumstances. AFAIK if one person is queueing in the line, they can let people in with them from their party (of course I could be wrong, I'm sure some CM could correct me if I am!)

Just FYI, we have never done the above method, and certainly wouldn't feel right doing it either. We've never seen anyone cut in line before (I know we're lucky!) but it would make me pretty mad if they did, and I certainly wouldn't keep quiet about it!!

Along with the discussion, I have a recent story.

The Pirates queue now spills outside into the covered area before the "old" queue (although I can remember it being that long in the 90s). The other day (I think it was Saturday), the line was moving very fast out there as people made their way through. Well, this group of 7-8 adults climbed over the ropes in front of my sister and I and said nothing. I turned to my sister and said, "Did you see that?" Just asking her if she saw....well, the "ringleader" of the group, a 40-something man, turned around and said, "Do you have a problem with me, because if you do, you had better say it to my face"

Uh, woah, calm down there. All I did was turn to my sister and see if she saw it...apparently he knew he was cutting and was embarrassed that someone noticed, and felt the need to verbally assault a 25-year old woman!

The CM outside didn't see this group, but he saw others doing the same thing and sent them to the back of the line! I couldn't believe it!

I like this the best.

If we could make this standard behavoir amoung all disboard members....we might get some results...and maybe the idea would spread.

We don't need any fighting, but we do need someone to speak-up and let the majorty of good people step-in from there. Its just about taking the step to speak-up first

I like that idea and it just might work. And I am just the loud mouthed, un-embarasable guy to do it. I'll let you know how it works out.

How about putting a jail in toon town (there is one at DL for the kids to get their picture in) and sending all the line cutters to the jail to have their picture taken and have the picture put on a wall of shame. :cool1:

A jail is a good idea, but you got me thinking...I bet there are dungeons under the castle!!!!

That's really the only way things will change. If WDW decides that the problem is impacting guests enough to warrant extra effort by the CMs and Security, then they will step up efforts. If people start to see negative consequences for line cutting-like being put at the end or even better-thrown out of the park-then the word will get out.
I hate to say it though, but as long as attendance numbers continue to rise, Disney has no real incentive to make that extra effort. Despite all the line cutting and rude behavior, people are still coming in record numbers.
