Etiquette cards for queues

I thought this was a funny post at the start. Let's all calm down. Maybe a dip in a pool may help cool things down.

We could all go to the Poly pool - I'll create a diversion at the top of the volcano slide, and while the CMs aren't looking, you all jump in the pool - like regular Poly guests. Okay?

PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE - you know I'm only joking!!!!!!

Either that or take a whole bunch of old refillable mugs and fill them all up...

And I also don't think the OP was serious...but it is a good thought...

About line cutting, here's my 2p worth...

Disney rules actually do let people cut in line under some circumstances. AFAIK if one person is queueing in the line, they can let people in with them from their party (of course I could be wrong, I'm sure some CM could correct me if I am!)

Just FYI, we have never done the above method, and certainly wouldn't feel right doing it either. We've never seen anyone cut in line before (I know we're lucky!) but it would make me pretty mad if they did, and I certainly wouldn't keep quiet about it!!

Wow I never expected such replies. I was only joking about the cards, more wishful thinking than anything else. I know that the people who jump lines and smoke outside of the designated areas dont give a flying flap about anything I say or give them printed on a card.

Exactly! I really wouldn't do what I was saying just pondered the thought that maybe some people really "don't know". Honestly, rude people are everywhere and pointing out that they are rude usually only points out the obvious. It just became a running joke with the family--"oh, they need an etiquette card, oh too bad we dont' have an underware sticker" --takes the edge off of the frustration while making it humorous as well!

In all seriousness, could WDW list some basic etiquette rules in their maps or post signs around the park?

How about if we all just grab a table outside of the Rose and Crown, enjoy a pint of Guiness, and watch people get run over by strollers and amigos. Oops sorry thats getting into a whole other gripe (S).

Seriously everyone, Thank You all for your comments and opinions, it was never my intention for this to become a heated topic. I guess its a sore spot for many of us. Hopefully Disney staff will see that this is an important point for many of us and take steps to reduce the problem. On the other hand with the recent terrorist attempts maybe Disney is more concerned with protecting us for more sinister threats than line jumpers.

Midge, I like this idea, they have maps printed in all sorts of different languages so everyone would be able to read the tips in thier own language.

Now all we need is a cast member to suggest it to someone who can do something with it

The problem is that people will not take the time to read. Apparently the many signs at MS were not enought to warn people that it was a intense ride. Why would they bother to read something so insignificant as a tip map?

We shouldn't have to list etiquette for people. People should behave in a proper manner without someone writing it down for them. It is horrible that we have gotten so lazy about teaching our children what is acceptable and what is not.

90% of those who appear to be challenged are not challenged; they are challenging.

90% of driving infractions are intentional.

87% of people will believe you if you tell them something with a percentage. :teacher: :confused3

(sorry, couldn't resist)

How about a rule for no throwing up in line? Next to the trash can? And then continuing to stand in line to get on the ride?

And no, I am not joking. My coworker came back from Disney last week, and said that a woman threw up more than her body weight on the ground, NEXT to the trash can. Then proceeded to continue in line, while everyone behind her in the queue had to walk by her disgusting mess. She didn't say a word to a CM about it either, my coworker's wife told a CM when they got up to board, and the CM said "oh my goodness, we'll take care of it right away!"

This is the same coworker that witnessed TWO separate incidents last summer of children peeing on bushes with their parent's blessings, at the Magic Kingdom.

So, should we add No Throwing Up on the Ground and No Peeing Except in Restrooms to the cards?

It isn't really the throwing up, it is the throwing up on the ground NEXT to the trash can, and then continuing on in line and not telling a CM...Maybe signs that say "if you upchuck, please inform a Cast member prior to boarding the ride?"

Hmmm, I wouldn't want to visit the bush peeing countries, lol!

Let's start another thread with a poll: do you think disney should post rules at the beginning of rides regarding cutting?

We know CM's are reading this website, maybe if they saw it....

I wonder if Disney doesn't post such rules because 1) they're counting of people self-policing and 2) to post the rules might establish an environment which suggests guests need to be reminded of basic courtesy. To post rules, then, might actually break some of the illusion that Disney tries so hard to maintain, that it is the happiest place on earth. In fact, I would go so far as to suspect that the lack of such signage is part of the the park's theming and construction of a themed environment that differentiates Disney from other amusement and theme parks.

I remember the first time I went to Six Flags (Chicago) and they had all this signage about line behavior, appropriate clothing, and other restrictions, along with penalties. I'd already been to Disney and so I was surprised. And you know what I thought? Disney doesn't have the signs because it doesn't NEED the signs; Disney guests are in a class by themselves. Whether or not that's true, that was one of my first impressions when I inevitably compared Six Flags (and their guests) to Disney (and their guests). And I'm pretty sure Disney likes to promote that image, believing it's easier to handle the rule-breakers--for the implicit rules--on an individual basis.

That said, it would be nice if Disney did have a list of their rules somewhere, maybe available online or at the resort hotels. (I'm thinking here of the fraught-with-tension Heelys debate, which I'd hate to see rear its ugly head on this thread.)

I think the op's "card" is turning into a "booklet". It's so sad how so many don't think of others. :sad2:

OMGosh this is the funniest thread! OK op, if you are brave enough to hand out card, will you attach them to a sample size deoderant? Please??? Nothing worse than it being hot and humid and have way too many people in you personal circle and have several of those strangers stank like onions mixed with "A*S" :faint: . For th over-sensitive no funny bone readers, I do apologize and realize that's part of the Disney Fun. I just have a sensitive nose...bad smells make me nauseous. In which case I will use the garbage can and not the pathway. :rotfl2: Dont worry OP, I realize you were just kidding!

Utah Mama, I think i might have to drag around a wagon full of gift bags, filled etiquette cards, sample size deoderants, barf bags from Mission Space, small bottles of mouth wash. leashes for unruly children...Hmmm what else am I missing?

sjcmi- Yes!!! Dress up like Mary Poppins (well the Great Demon might scare the kiddies into rule obedience) and spend your whole vacation passing out kits attached to rules :thumbsup2 GREAT plan!

Actually, when someone cuts in line, just yell/sing:" NO CUTS, NO BUTTS, NO COCO-NUTS!!!!" It works and it's funny.
