ET to Close?????

Ok, my highschooler just emailed me from school, (dont ask, haha), and is in shock, reading in the LA TIMES that ET will close on March 12th????
Maybe he read the ET in CALIF????
ANYONE know of any truth to this rumor? they just revamped the one here in Orlando. Why would they close it so soon? I think its a misunderstanding on my sons part!!! HELP PLEASE so I can know before he gets home !!!

As far as I am aware, it is the E.T. in Universal Studios Hollywood. There was another thread about it & I'm sure it said USH. Some one correct me if I am wrong, but there are no plans to get rid of E.T. in Orlando, correct?
I'm positive there would be a LOT more threads about it if they meant the E.T. here.

It is indeed the California version that will be closing. Dont expect anything to happen to the Florida version until at least all three of the currently closed attractions have been reopened in their new form.

Ok, i couldnt handle waiting, so I called USF and the woman assured me there is no expected closing of ET in USF. Thanks to the few of you who assured me also. Imagine my surprise when my son sent me that email. I know he loves that place, not as much as Disney , but wow, he was really tore up about the possibility. I guess because I have taken him on it for years since he was a baby. THANKS to everyone who answered this post!

The only thing that I expect sometime soon is for them to redo the pre show shoot. It is talking about the 20th Anniversay and it is going to the 21st real soon. They did a total rehab about a year ago at USF.

ET in USF will be staying open for many more years.

For all purposes, USF's ET ride is still new. Track, ride control, and vehicles are new. Even the show is new. It gets great ratings and is continuously upgraded and well supported. Consider it just starting at least a ten-year run. Of course the 20th theme will change as well.

Well at 5:15 p.m. on March 13, 2003 E.T. at USH was officially closed. Now that E.T. is closed they will starting putting up walls around it to start gutting it from the inside. Mr. Spielberg made a list of what he wanted from the attraction which included some the E.T.'s espcially the little E.T.'s and other stuff. Some of the stuff will be destroyed and the rest will be locked up in a warehouse.

USH won't make a PR about the new attraction until June or July now. From what I have seen in the layout, I feel that many of the elements that are suppose to be on the attraction won't make it onto the attraction from the budget constrainsts as always. Now the only thing is to wait and see if it will be ready for May 04.
