Does anyone know anything about ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. I have a DH who is not as big into the whole Disney thing as say, I might be. When we go in October as a suprise I would like to take my sports lovin DH to ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. I didnt know if we could get in if nothing was going on there, if it cost to get in, and if the gift shop etc are open. Has anyone ever been there? What are your thoughts?

Also, is their an ESPN store in DTD?

Any in put would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Most of the sports events at ESPN-WWoS are high-school level tournaments. There is nothing to see/do if no sporting events are on the schedule, shops and restaurants aren't open. There is a fee -- I want to say $15 but that might be outdated, though there may be additional fee for some events. If you are there in March, the Atlanta Braves play pre-season games. Take a look at the website and see if there's anything scheduled while you are at WDW.

Not sure about DTD, there is a sports store but not sure if it's ESPN.

There is an ESPN Club (bar/restaurant) on the Boardwalk.

Enjoy your vacation!

1) If this is so, he's going to be really bored.
2) As mentioned, ESPN is a sporting venue, not a theme park.
3) He can do the NFL experience and eat (but, the sandwiches are pretty bad).
4) The venue is used for
. . . baseball
. . . youth football
. . . ladies' softball
. . . cheer-leading contests
. . . AAU sports
5) All require an added fee for entrance into the field houses or stadiums.
6) And, no ESPN at DTD, just Boardwalk.

I dont think he would be bored. I should admit that I am a bit over the top about Disney. We are taking our kids for the first time. I just wanted to see if there was anything to do there if we took an afternoon. Just wanted to give him some time to do manly things! :)
I do know he is looking foward to the Epcot Food and Wine Festival!

Thanks for your help!

DTD has an ESPN Store but no restaurant. The store has various sports merchandise and even has a Rawlings bat making stand. Maybe he would like a personalized bat or mini-bat? The restaurant is at the Boardwalk resort and has lots of memorabilia on the wall, plus a radio booth that you may be lucky enough to catch someone doing their show from there. I was lucky enough one time to sit underneath my friend's team plaque when he was on the 1985 Chicago Bears.

Also noticed you are from Iowa as well!

ESPN WWOS is basically used for

1.Sport tournaments
2.Cheerleading tournaments
3.Run Disney events, the expo, kids races, and some of the races that do go through it allowing spectators to chear them on.
4.Atlanta Braves spring training games

It does have a store and counter service restaurant,I don't know for sure if they're open on days without events but I would guess they probably would.I'll be there on Friday for the Tower of Terror ten miler expo and will run through the complex and baseball stadium Saturday night.

The store at DTD you are referring to is Team Mickey. It's not an "ESPN" store. As mentioned earlier, the Boardwalk has the ESPN Club.
