ESPN weekend

Still trying to work out my attack plan. I figure ESPN day at MGM should be avoided at ALL COSTS. My DH and DS,14 are intriqued. Will the format be much like soap weekend? How crowded do you think it will be, and do you think it everybody will be there just to see the celebs or will the rides be crowded too? I'm kind of thinking of indulging them for a few hours in the AM and then hopping to EPCOT at lunchtime for the remainder of the day. Opinions??

Hi there. I am going to be there the same time. I have never been during ESPN weekend before, so I cannot tell you EXACTLY what to expect, but I did look on the WDW website yesterday and they have added a second Spectro showing at MK and They have extended park hours as well. (They have even extended Animal Kingdom Hours on Sat. until 6pm.) We are planning to stay away from MGM until at least Sunday...and even then we will play it by ear. I am hoping the next few days after that will be less crowded.

I would check the WDW website periodically before you head to WDW...that might give you some indication of what they are looking at crowd wise.

All that being said, I made my PS ressies two days ago (we leave in 18 days) and I got EVERYTHING I wanted, including a Fantasmic Dinner package. (We are doing Crystal Palace once for dinner and once for bfast, THe animal kingdom character bfast, the kids are doing the pirate cruise at the GF, the fantasmic dinner, and a few meals at resorts...I got everything I wanted at the times I wanted...a few of them are before the parks open!) I took that as a pretty good sign....

Hope some of this helps! Now if only I could find a way to make the time pass more quickly!!!

Thanks for the info, Buzz's Girl. I hadn't noticed the change in hours, so I will start watching that. Congrats on your ressies, you did do well. Those two character breakfasts are my kids favorites. Enjoy.
