I guess this mean the one at the BWV too? I wonder what would take its place?

Disney to close ESPN Zone restaurants

The Walt Disney Co. plans to close most of its ESPN Zone stores, a chain of sports-themed restaurants located in seven cities, an unnamed source told The Los Angeles Times.

The only eateries to remain open are those affiliated with a Disney property, such as the Downtown Disney shopping district in Anaheim, Calif., the Times reports.

The one on the Boardwalk at BWV will stay. The one in Baltimore at the Inner Harbor is yet to be determined.

I hope this isn't so. It does say that those affiliated with Disney properties would not be affected. I would think that would mean the one at the Boardwalk would remain open.

The one at BW is an ESPN Club not an ESPN Zone. The Zone's have a large arcade.

I think my DH would be destroyed if they ever closed the ESPN Club. He lives for those Nachos.

ESPN Club at WDW is NOT going anywhere. Two completely different birds if you will. The Club at The Boardwalk is run by Parks and Resorts. The Zones are run by Disney Regional Entertainment. All Zones will close with the exception of L.A. Live in Downtown L.A. and Downtown Disney Anaheim.

True, but the "Clubs" don't devote nearly the square footage to the arcade/gaming section that the "Zones" do. They were going for a Dave & Busters sort of model (i.e. Chuck E Cheese for grownups), but they built most of them in urban settings where the rents are high---and the arcades just don't return the same kind of revenue that the restaurant does, so it's a poor use of the space.
