MY family and I are planning on going to the ESPN club to watch a game one day. I was wondering if any of you know wether or not there is a cover charge to get in?

My boys love this place. On some evenings (I think Friday) they host a sports interview show that appears on their WDW tv circuit. That is always fun to catch. We were there once when a coach from the Chicago Bears was being interviewed and once when two NHL players were being interviewed.

No cover charges.

There is no cover , however if you are going to watch an NFL game you had best arrive before 12 noon. they open at 11 and there is already a line waiting. If you are going to watch a a college game it is just as full but seems to fill up around the mid-afternoon. all other events depending on who's playing you should be alright walking in around game time. :cheer2:

Pulled Pork sandwich at ESPN a fun place to spend some time. :goodvibes :wizard: :wave2:

No cover, but please, heed my warning. If you want to watch the game, be sure to get there early! The lines on football days are huge, and espn allows people to stay for the whole game regardless of whether they are still eating/drinking. My DH is a HUGE (to put it mildly) Patriots fan, but he is also a big fan of sleeping!! This combination left me patiently waiting outside the club with him for the entire game, in the first week of October, in 90 degree heat. Even the bar was full to capacity, and it never let up during the entire game. On our December trip, we got there an hour prior to kickoff and all was fine.

For the trip with my niece/nephew this December, my Dsis and I are dropping my DH off at espn and taking the kids to Princess Storybook Dinner! (Of course, the kids would probably rather watch the Pats, but that is a different story)

Any suggestions - warnings - about Monday Night Football at ESPN?

ETA: We're going to be at WDW with DS(25) - his one request: a dinner at ESPN Zone! :confused3 :rotfl2:

Thanks.

Can you believe that one of the things DF is most excited about is the ESPN Club? We are planning to go there one nite... probably a Thursday and he is wondering if they will put on an NHL game for him!?

I really enjoyed ESPN much more than I expected to. The food was good...pretty much standard bar fare. I loved the wings and DH had a chicken sandwich that he enjoyed. DD did not like her PB&J...because it was a triple decker. I think she was just being finicky that night.

Oh, and just so you know...if you see a line outside, you don't necessarily have to wait in it. Those folks are waiting for tables in the left section of the actual restaurant. The bar and bar area seating is first come first serve. Even though there was a line outside, we walked right into the bar area and there were 2 or 3 tables available.

Oh, and a little sidebar...I made a mental note to tell my single girlfriends this is the place to be...that bar was full of GUYS!

That is not necessarily true, unfortunately. When I got stuck waiting (for the ENTIRE game, thanks DH!!) there were two lines--one for the bar, and one for the restaurant, and neither was moving. We were actually in the bar line. ESPN had set up a big-screen tv outside and there was a portable bar also, but it still stunk (SOOOO hot, ugh). I would get there early if you are trying to watch a football game.

So I take it ESPN club doesn't take ADR's for lunch?

They do not take ADRs, I asked last night because my birthday is the same day as the superbowl!! omg! yay!

but I don't know if I'm going to get into ESPN, I can only hope. If not the CM suggested the ALL STAR CAFE in the Wide World of Sports which does take ADRs...

We were staying at the BW during the 2004 RedSox/Yankees playoffs then part of the World Series. There was always a line for both sides of ESPN, restaurant and bar only. It was so crazy they has tv's setup outside and a minibar. My DS would go down and then text message DH and I if the line for the bar area got short enough to get in!! The absolute most fun I have ever had at WDW with DS and DH!!! And of course it helped that the Red Sox went all the way!!The food was surprisingly good!! ::MinnieMo

liamsaunt-you are right...I should have been more specific. When we were there in Oct, during the week (no weekend nights) there was ONLY a line on the restaurant side every time we passed by on our way to Epcot. When I saw that line, I told DH to forget it, I was not interested in waiting in line to eat there. But fortunately someone told us that the line to the left is for the restaurant...and there was never a line to the right at any point that I saw.

We went there 2 weekends ago for the UF-UGA game - Go Gators! We arrived after 1:30 pm for 3:30 game. We wanted a booth in the bar b/c the audio for the game was going to be in there. We kept watching til a booth opened up and then we grabbed it. We waited about 40 min.

Since we're also Dolfans and were excited when we heard Don Shula was in the restaurant area. We offered to buy him a drink but it was late afternoon and he said he was fine with his diet coke.

I just read ufgator's post about the UF-UGA game. Does anyone have an opinion about the Va Tech-UVA game on Nov 19? (Saturday at noon) Should we expect the crowd to be about the same? We are planning on being at MGM that day, but I had thought about going over to the ESPN Club to catch some of the game.

(And please no remarks about that awful game this weekend!!) :earseek: LOL!

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!!!!! Don't do it!!!! We made that mistake last year for the Alamo Bowl when we didn't think we'd get into ESPN and it was HORRIBLE!!!! I'd rather stand in line outside ESPN in 90 degree heat with the tv and portable bar! DO NOT waste your time (getting there is a pain) and money on the HORRIBLE food and service at the All Star Cafe!!!!
