Esplanade closure at night?

Does anyone know approximately how long after park closure the Esplanade between DL and CA closes? Does it close at all? I assumed that the green things they use to close off security are reset to close off the entire area at night but have no experience with this.

Also, how early do they open in the morning? Would they be open at 4:00/4:30 am?

They are not closed at all. It is left open all night in my experience.

From my understanding it is left open all night but in the very early morning hours they ask that you don't stop and take pictures but your allowed to walk from one area to the other. For example people coming from Harbor are allowed to Downtown Disney but can't hang out in the esplanade.

Last time we stayed at the GCH I was hassled by security for being in DTD before 6 AM. Not sure if it was an isolated incident or not, I was out trying to get pre-dawn pics. Trust me, do not try to take a picture of the monorail line early in the morning. It was kind of cool to watch them washing everything down, everything in the esplanade got the hose.

The Esplanade does not close after the parks are closed. There are no manned security gates, so to speak. I have walked through many times after a late night movie in DTD back to Harbor. You will see maintenance crews cleaning the area. We have even staged there a few times to be the first ones in the gate for special occasion (ie; Pirates of the Carribean Premiere).
