Escaping the New England winter! Feb 2011 (Completed!)

Happy Birthday to mom! Hope you have a great meet tomorrow - no matter where you eat. :)

Mom says thank you for the happy birthday :) Yeah we've discovered that our location doesn't matter much  We sat talking for two hours in a mall food court last year :thumbsup2

Since it's after midnight I (we) can say it...

Happy Birthday, Christine! party: :bday: :cake:

Thanks Meg  I'll see you TODAY! :dance3:

I'm 18 today! :dance3: My mom and I are leaving in a little while to pick up my cousin and then head into Boston :yay: The plan is to meet Meghan and Charles at 3:30. We're not entirely sure where we're eating yet, but we think we have it narrowed down to two places  Meg and I have already discovered that it doesn't matter where we eat, we can still sit and talk for a long time. We once sat in a food court at the mall for 2 hours  Then after we eat, we'll head to Fenway for the game :cool1: I'll be back tomorrow with a bunch of pictures to share!!! Thank you for all of the "happy birthdays" here and on Facebook! I love my DIS friends! :goodvibes

Here is a picture of Christine and I from today...

It was a lot of fun and I am hoping that the Red Sox win for them tonight!

I had a great time today! Our DIS meet was awesome. We had so much fun! And we did end up getting into the restaurant we wanted :) The game was awesome too. The Sox lost, but I still had a lot of fun! Now, bed time. I'm exhausted! I'll be back with pictures tomorrow!

I know a lot of you have already seen these on facebook, but for anyone who hasn't, I'll post a few pictures from my birthday Red Sox game and DIS meet yesterday!

A few hours before the game, we met Meghan and Charles at Jerry Remy's restaurant in Boston. I ended up not being able to get a reservation there because it's a sports bar and everyone wanted to go watch the Bruins game there. We had all left ourselves a ton of extra time to get there. In their case, they got there really early, and we got there late  We got stuck in traffic and then got lost. They asked at the desk and were told it would be about an hour wait, but I said that's about when we would get there so that was fine. Well of course they got a table in 25 minutes :rotfl: I felt so bad for them and the poor waitress. They had to wait for us for like 40 minutes. Oops...

But we got there eventually  We had a great time :goodvibes

After our DIS meet, my mom, my cousin, and I headed to Fenway Park :woohoo:

Here are a few pictures from the game!

The Sox lost, but it was still a fun game!

I had an amazing day. It was absolutely the best birthday I've had :)

I'll be back tomorrow with a real TR update!

:cheer2: HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY!!! :cheer2:

Glad you had a great birthday and Dismeet with Megablocks!

I love the little sundae in the baseball cap, looks so yummy. :thumbsup2

So you got in the restaurant you wanted to get into in the first place, right? (I remember you guys discussing the options, but can't remember complete details.)

Ice cream, friends and family, and a baseball game. Sounds like a wonderful combination. :)

Yes we did! We had a back up plan just in case though.

It was a great combination :thumbsup2

Time for a trip around the world!

But first...more flowers!

We would be eating lunch in Italy pretty soon!

I was determined to have my first churro this trip but it never happened. I know you don't have to be in Disney to have a churro but that's not the point :rotfl:

Somewhat creepy troll topiary. Sorry it's not centered, I was walking and taking pictures at the same time!

Cute pandas! :cutie:

Heading into Germany...

We sat here watching the little trains for a while. I've never really stopped there before so I thought it was really cool!

Almost time for lunch!

Via Napoli

We ended up getting a table outside. The weather was beautiful and it was in the shade so it was great!

My mom had a margherita pizza and added mushrooms, onions, and fontina cheese.

DSCF7984.jpg

I had the pepperoni pizza.

DSCF7985.jpg

It was sooooo good :cloud9: I've been craving that pizza for months. We saw someone with spaghetti and meatballs at the table next to us and it looked delicious, but I can't imagine going back and not getting the pizza!

Since we were on the dining plan, it came with dessert.

We both had the Zeppole di Ricotta(just looked that up ). They were sooo good. They're really light and fluffy so it wasn't too heavy after the pizzas.

I would eat here again in a heartbeat! It is a little expensive, but if you're on the dining plan it's not a problem!

Leaving Italy, we found these adorable topiaries.

I'll stop here for now. Next time: the second half of World Showcase!

Via Napoli looks delicious! I didn't know you could sit outside, that's fun :) Mmm I want some zeppole right now! I love those.

Nice World Showcase pictures. The flowers were so pretty!

Your mom's pizza looks good to me. We might try the pizza by the slice section of Via Napoli this summer, but an ADR to go in will come on a later trip.

I did not know where to look in that picture of us from last Saturday. It was like the paparazzi on a tiny scale :rotfl: I'm glad that your birthday and the game was last weekend; it started out SO beautiful here, then it turned to rain and thunderstorms.

That pizza looks sooooo good! I am going to have such a hard time picking out one restaurant I want to eat at when we start planning

I love that you got a little preview of the F&GF when you were there. It's crazy how early they have to start! I will say I HATE those troll topiaries...they really creep me out :scared1:

Just a heads up if you didn't know, I remember hearing somewhere that the pizza they serve at the counter isn't the same stuff they have inside. I'm sure it's still good, but don't be disappointed if it's not heavenly ;)

I know! I didn't know whether to look at Charles or Sarah first :rotfl:

It was amazing

The troll scared the heck out of me  But then I saw the cute pandas and everything was ok :upsidedow

After lunch, we kept walking around the world.

A view across the lake.

We found an Aladdin topiary in Morocco.

DSCF8022.jpg

And we also found...

a little lizard

DSCF8023.jpg

I have no idea how I spotted him. He was climbing up a tree. I had to use the digital zoom to get that picture.

DSCF8025.jpg

Only in Disney can you walk from Morocco to France

We were joined by a friend.

We watched them setting up for Illuminations, which we were looking forward to watching because we hadn't seen it in a few years.

DSCF8041.jpg

I have no idea why, but for some reason I didn't take any pictures from the UK or Canada besides this one...Oops.

DSCF8043.jpg

Transitioning back into Future World, we headed back to the front of the park to ride Spaceship Earth.

DSCF8046.jpg

DSCF8047.jpg

My camera went away for a little bit apparently...After Spaceship Earth we went to do some shopping at Mouse Gear :dance3: I bought a few things in there, including a Nightmare Before Christmas Vinylmation for Meg. I can talk about that now because I gave it to her last weekend

We still had a lot of time to kill before our Soarin fastpasses were ready. Remember those? We got them in the morning after our first ride on Soarin. It was now somewhere around 5:00 PM :rotfl:

We decided to visit Ellen and Bill Nye.

DSCF8050.jpg

Some attempts at non-flash pictures.

DSCF8052.jpg

DSCF8055.jpg

DSCF8056.jpg

At some point during this ride, I was rubbing my eye a little bit and....one of my contacts fell out :scared1: That never happens when I rub my eyes, but I guess they had dried out from the heat. Luckily, I caught it. I had also brought my contact case and my glasses into the park in case that happened. I used the light from my phone to find my contact case and put the lense in there, and just waited until the ride ended. I could've taken the other one out but it had been a while since I washed my hands. I then walked to the nearest bathroom with one eye closed  Having only one contact in is sooo disorienting so I just closed my other eye. I actually had saline solution with me so I could've put it back in but they were starting to annoy me anyway so I just switched to glasses.

After all of that we STILL had time before Soarin, so we rode Imagination again.

My camera takes horrible night time pictures :sad2:

DSCF8063.jpg

Then it was finally time for Soarin! :woohoo:

It was approaching Illuminations time when we got off Soarin, but we still had a while so we went on Spaceship Earth one more time.

Stupid camera...

DSCF8065.jpg

DSCF8066.jpg

I just picked random answers for this one. We ended up living on some snowy mountain and my mom apparently broke her arm when we were skiing and there was an avalanche. Her arm was healed by a robotic dog :rotfl:

DSCF8067.jpg

DSCF8068.jpg

DSCF8069.jpg

After learning about that bizarre future...we went back to World Showcase to grab our spot for Illuminations. We ended up standing in front of a bush that was crawling with spiders  I'm terrified of spiders, but I stood about 3 feet back and ignored them

Continued in next post...

My sad attempt at Illuminations pictures.

DSCF8081.jpg

DSCF8083.jpg

I forgot how much I loved Illuminations :cloud9:

When it was over we followed the sea of people out of the park.

It was somewhere around 10:00 and it had been about 7 hours since lunch so we were hungry when we got back to WL. We used some counter service credits at Roaring Forks.

I don't remember what my mom got, but I had some chicken nuggets.

DSCF8087.jpg

And one of my favorite Disney treats :)

DSCF8089.jpg

That concludes the third day of our trip!

Up next: Feb 26 - Animal Kingdom and a DIS meet! :dance3:
