Escaping the New England winter! Feb 2011 (Completed!)

I promise I won't ruin it :rotfl2:

The Shining scared me to death, too. I saw the remake and the stupid hedges freaked me out! :scared1: I'm generally traumatized by Stephen King movies in general. If it's raining, I can't stand walking by gutters and hearing the water flowing into them, thanks to IT...that's also where my intense fear of clowns comes from; when I was five, I was playing with the buttons on the VCR and caught the very beginning of IT b/c my mom had just recorded it...I'm not sure if you've seen it, but I saw the part with the girl on the bike. My mom still has huge "mommy guilt" over that one!

I haven't been to the Poly since our first trip so I don't remember it at all. I love seeing pictures from there though.

I love, love, love all the PotC memorabilia. I am so excited for the next one to come out! Also, have you read the Kingdom Keeper books? Fourth one comes out beginning of April! I'm afraid if I preorder it on Amazon, it won't reach me that day, so I am planning on going to Target to get my copy and spend all day reading. So excited!

Great update Christine!!! :thumbsup2

I can't wait for our ADR at Kona because I have always wanted to visit the Poly! I look at pictures of it & just drool! I know we're staying at the BC and its gorgeous but the Poly will always be my dream resort! Even if I could only stay there for like 2 nights, I'd be satisfied with that! Oh and I completely forgot about the gift shop! You just gave me a great idea! After our Kona ADR, we can walk around the resort & take some pics & then head over to the gift shop! Thanks for the idea, my husband will be thrilled! :lmao:

Don't feel bad -- I've never been on Toy Story Mania either! When I read people's TR's & see their pics of Mr. Potato Head, I want to cry! Hopefully in September we can ride it due to the lower crowds...but I'm not taking any chances! TSMM is coming FIRST even before breakfast! :rotfl:

What do you think about Muppets? It was closed for refurb our last trip. Before that, I hadn't been to DHS since it was MGM back in 1998 so I've never seen Muppets! I want to go in that giftshop too!

Did they say anything to you when you videotaped Backlot Tour? Just wondered! I wanted to video it so bad but I was afraid of getting yelled at!

I can't wait to hear if your mom rode ToT or not!!!!

Great update Christine!

I am dying to try Kona for breakfast so I can try some Tonga Toast! I'm glad you liked it!

I havent seen The Shinning but I just remember seeing a clip of it in Twister and it looked pretty scary so I knew to stay away from watching to save myself from having nightmares.

I was still just thinking happy Disney thoughts that morning. I had a busy, busy day getting ready for a three day sub.

Poly is a beautiful resort, and I would love to stay there, as well, but I can stay about 4 or more nights at Pop for the price. If I ever stay there, I hope it can be after a big fireworks display (like the 4th or NYE) so we can just walk back to the room and crash! :thumbsup2

We were looking into staying either at the Poly or the Beach Club for one or two nights on this trip but they both cost so much more than the Wilderness Lodge. Oh well, we were perfectly happy at WL :cloud9:

I promise I won't ruin it :rotfl2:

All Stephen King movies scare me  I'm always really jumpy after I see them. I forget which one it was, but like an hour after I watched it, my mom came into the room and said my name and I freaked :rotfl: And yes I have seen It :scared1:

I'm so excited for the next Pirates! It comes out on my best friend's birthday, which also happens to be prom night. Neither of us are going to prom, so we're gonna make cupcakes, go see Pirates, and then go to after prom :rotfl:

I haven't read the Kingdom Keepers books but I want to!

Great update Christine!!! :thumbsup2

I really want to stay at the Poly someday too. And the Beach Club!

I love the Muppets! It's a really cute show. It had been years since I've seen it!

Nope. I've filmed it two or three different times and they've never said anything to me :thumbsup2

The Tonga Toast was amazing

I really should stay away from horror movies because they ALWAYS scare me. I just never learn my lesson :rotfl:

Hi everybody! Sorry I disappeared for a week. I've been ridiculously busy and tired the past couple weeks. Last Wednesday my mom left on a business trip so I was on my own until Saturday, which meant getting up 45 minutes earlier every day to feed the cats and the dog, take the dog out, etc. before school. Plus last weekend we found out that my dog apparently has arthritis in her legs and she was having trouble walking around and crouching to go to the bathroom until the medicine kicked in. I took her out about 6 times on Wednesday night and she wouldn't go. She was waking me up all night :faint: I was very happy to have my mom home  But of course by then my dog was acting normal

Then on Saturday I spent a good part of the day working on a sociology project with my friend at the library. Sunday I just crashed on the couch because I was exhausted :rotfl: Yesterday I had to finish up my field work for my senior project. It's a graduation requirement for my school. Every senior has to do 15 hours of field work, write a 10 page paper, and do a 10 minute presentation. That plus all of the outlining and prep work makes it a huge project. But now I'm two thirds done with it  I left school early yesterday(I had a double study block the last two hours) to finish that and didn't get home until 4:00. Then I had to do an essay for sociology, which was supposed to be an in class essay but because of bad timing, pretty much everyone ended up having to do most of it at home. Today I have to finish the sociology project I was working on over the weekend. Tomorrow, I have to do the outline for my senior project presentation which is apparently due Thursday. My teacher just told us today :rolleyes1

I promise I'll do an update sometime late this week! This is the last week of the third quarter, which for some reason always seems to be the busiest week of the year. But when the week is over, it's time for one of my favorite parts of the year. Opening day for the Red Sox! :dance3: Anyone who knows about my Red Sox obsession(Hi Meg! :wave2:) knows I'll be a very happy person on Friday :thumbsup2

Have a good day DIS friends! I'll be back with an update later this week!

You have a lot on your plate. Try to find some minutes to rest and do something fun for yourself in the midst of it. It'll all be over in a few weeks...
and then you can start it all over again in the fall.

I do have a lot on my plate. Luckily, my spring break is coming up! I have two more weeks of school before that, then the weekend after that is my birthday, and then I only have a little over a month of high school left!

I finally have time to do an update!

But first, some non TR related news. My mom got Red Sox tickets for the game on my 18th birthday, April 30 :dance3: Before the game we'll be meeting up with Meghan(Megablocks). Hooray for a birthday DIS meet! :yay: That's gonna be an awesome 18th birthday!!!

And now, back to the report!

So...did my mom ride Tower of Terror?

Yes she did! :woohoo:

She was a little nervous and I was just giggling the whole way through the line :rotfl:

She loved it! She said she wouldn't do it 5 times in one day like I did last year, but it was fun. We had a pretty tame drop sequence, so I'm not sure if she would've liked it as much if it had dropped more, but she had fun and her back was fine.

Pretty flowers outside the gift shop.

I think this was when I dropped my camera :scared1: I was afraid I broke it, but it was fine. The little thing I have to pop open to put the memory card and batteries in doesn't quite close all the way anymore, but it still works fine.

We grabbed another set of ToT fastpasses for me to use later(my mom said once was enough for that day so she let me use them). I think this was where I overheard something funny. The women at the FP machine next to me apparently already had an active fastpass, so when she put her ticket in she got the little piece of paper that says she had an active fastpass and she could get another one at whatever time. She goes "But I don't want to use that fastpass!" :rotfl: Well the fastpass machine doesn't care if you want to use it or not!

After we got my fastpasses, we went to one of our favorites.

DSCF7702.jpg

My mom stopped to tie her shoe or something so I took a palm tree picture

DSCF7701.jpg

DSCF7703.jpg

As you can see in that picture, it was sunny :sunny:

We pretty much walked right on. DHS wasn't very crowded that day. It was great! I thought I took pictures, but I think that was the next time we went on.

After our trip through the movies, it was already time for my ToT fastpasses. They were active less than an hour after I got them because of the low crowds! I rode twice in a row. One of those rides, I think the first one, I had a really good drop sequence. When I told my mom I dropped more times than when she went on she looked like this  :rotfl:

After that we were getting hungry, so we decided to try out Backlot Express.

I took some pictures on the way there...

We really liked Backlot Express!

I got the chicken breast nuggets with fries and marble cheescake. I'm addicted to Disney chicken nuggets

After we ate, we wanted to go see Indiana Jones, but we had a little time to kill before the next show so we went back to the Great Movie Ride.

I took a picture almost identical to that one on my phone for MeMom, BrooklynnsMommy, and Megablocks :)

I'll stop here for now. This week should be MUCH less busy for me, plus we have a day off Wednesday for teacher development, so I'll have more time to update!

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!

I am so excited for our DIS meet! Still working on getting a straight answer out of Charles. :upsidedow

I had to laugh at Christina's question about the gangster or the cowboy...I remember a long time ago getting the cowboy, but all I can remember recently is the gangster. I feel like the cowboy is a myth, just like Red Robin restaurant is a myth here :rotfl2:

Great update Christine!!! So impressed that your mom rode ToT -- she has more courage than I do because I still won't ride it! :lmao:

Your pictures came out great! I couldn't get any good ones on Great Movie Ride last trip, but I'm hoping to try for more next time! The only ones that turned out were from Wizard of Oz (mostly because the lighting there is better than the rest of the ride). Yours turned out great -- glad you found that flower setting! :goodvibes

Can't wait to hear more about your trip! Don't worry about us here on DIS -- we aren't going anywhere! Take your time & put your school work first & just update whenever you have time!

:rotfl:

If I hadn't seen a pic of the cowboy in someone's TR I would have been totally convinced he is a myth!

I haven't read the Kingdom Keepers books but I want to!

You should!! They're awesome, especially since you would know all the settings and places and stuff in them. The fourth one comes out tomorrow (Tuesday), and I have already planned to go get it after class. I basically wasted $30 on a parking permit for school and have been parking at Wellington (on the orange line) and taking the train to school since it has its own stop on the orange line...& Wellington just so happens to be right down the street from Target. Convenient, right? :rolleyes1

If it weren't for TR's in which some people got that elusive cowboy, I would think that my vague memory of the cowboy was a dream! :rotfl2:

We always love getting Disney phone pictures! :)

Yay for mom riding Tower of Terror! I don't know that I could take it five times, but I am definitely up for twice in a day. ::yes::

Very nice :thumbsup2

Do you usually get the gangster or the cowboy on the Great Movie Ride? We've seen the gangster every single time. I'm still waiting for that elusive cowboy! :upsidedow

I'm in love with that flower setting!

We used to ALWAYS get the gangster! Then one year we went right through the room and I was SO confused! I looked at my mom and said "Did they get rid of the gangster?!" But then we stopped in the next room and got the cowboy. We them each once this year :thumbsup2 The funny this is, my mom prefers the cowboy and I prefer the gangster. Two years ago we only got the cowboy, and last year we rode 4 times and only got the gangster :rotfl:

I didn't get the cowboy for the first time until like 2008 :rotfl:

I wouldn't ride it until I was 15. Every year I said I'd do it, but I was afraid to ride by myself and my mom didn't know what it was like until I rode it! I finally just made myself do it in 2009 and now it's one of my favorites :rotfl:

It's really hard to get pictures in there. Mine from the first few rooms are completely blurry. I'm glad I found it too! It only took 3 years :rolleyes1 :rotfl:

School always gets in the way of the DIS ;)

I'll definitely have to start reading those!

At least you don't have to take the green line ;) I think the only time I've taken the orange was for our fake Epcot meet. No, wait! I took it when I was coming home from the Sox game with my dad when the green line broke down. Stupid green line...It better not break down on my birthday  Actually we're talking about driving and parking at the Prudential center. We did that the last time we went to a night game and it worked out well. We got a discount on parking when we showed them our Sox tickets :thumbsup2

We always love getting Disney phone pictures! :)

Yay for mom riding Tower of Terror! I don't know that I could take it five times, but I am definitely up for twice in a day. ::yes::

Me too :)

I figured that the chance to ride it 5 times in one day wouldn't come again, so I did it. Turns out, I got the chance again this year :rotfl: I only did it three times though. My legs started to feel a little like jello after the 5th time last year :rolleyes1

No school! I think it's a teacher development day or something like that. I'm gonna do a quick update, and then I have to head out to the animal shelter(where I did my senior project field work) to pick up something from my mentor for my portfolio. Don't you hate it when you have a bunch of stuff due at once, and you have everything except the one thing that's out of your control? :headache: But I'm getting it today, so I'm good :thumbsup2

After our second ride on GMR, it was time to see Indiana Jones! I love this show!

Has anyone else seen this show recently? They took out a huge section :confused3 Didn't a cast member die or get seriously injured during that show a few months ago? I'm sure that has something to do with it.

You definitely do. I got my friend obsessed!

Thank GOD I do not have to deal with that stupid train. I had to when I went to Boston a while ago for dinner/drinks with my cousins and I was amazed at how easy it was. My green line standards are very low. My cousin had to take it from school (I think) one weekend and she was so freaked out! She never uses public transportation, at least not by herself, and it got taken out of service one stop before hers and she had no idea what to do. I had to explain to her that the being "taken out of service" is really only a green line thing.

The Indiana Jones show, yeah, I think a CM got hurt or killed during a show. :( I think I remember seeing a thread or two on here about it. I haven't seen that show in forever. The past few trips it has been all about LMA for me and my dad.

I love One Man's Dream! I didn't go in it till a couple years ago, so don't feel too bad. I didn't make it there last year. :sad2:

:woohoo: for your Mom for riding ToT! You did it 5 times, back-to-back last time?!?! :faint: :rotfl:

I didn't realize they had taken out a portion of the Indy show--what part? We haven't seen it in a few trips, but we might have to fix that next time!

Well, it wasn't exactly 5 in a row. I went through the stand by line once, got two fastpasses and did something else while I waited for those to be active. It wasn't very long since the line was so short. Then when those were active I got two more, and by the time I rode two times it was almost time for those ones  So I think it was 5 times in 2 or 3 hours :upsidedow

Well, I'm home sick today with a sinus infection  So I was gonna update the report, but photobucket is having site maintenance so I can't login :headache: I'll be back later when photobucket is working

Ugh, sinus infections!!! Everyone has been getting sick except me, b/c I apparently have the immune system of...well, something that never gets ill. I'm going to be working with children next semester as part of my "internship" so to speak (it's for my class) so I expect my immune system will get a run for its money then. :upsidedow Kailyn was sick the past couple of days; she was really sick on Monday and was going to go to school yesterday (I think she expected to b/c she's missing Thursday and Friday for Disney), but my mom let her stay home. I offered her some nasal decongestant yesterday and it seemed like it helped a lot. I saw her very briefly this morning and she looked and sounded a lot less miserable. I'm just glad she got it before Disney. I hope YOU feel better!

I get sick a lot :headache: Stupid germy high school. I have a lot of inner ear issues(thanks to my dad. Stupid genetics :rolleyes1) so I get a ton of ear infections and sinus infections. Last year I got a really bad ear infection right after our Disney trip because my ears clogged on the plane and never popped so they got infected :sad2: I went to the doctor yesterday because it's the only way I can get antibiotics. Last year I ignored that ear infection for a week and it got really bad. I hate going to the doctor
