Escaping Mardi Gras off to Disney

I'm from Louisiana and we'll be there that week, too. We're staying at Port Orleans French Quarter. My kids are so excited! We have only been to WDW in the summer, so looking forward to nice weather. About the quick service in EPCOT, my son loves the fish and chips from England. He has to have them on every trip! Mexico is really good, too and there is a great outside covered patio there. Nice place to sit for a while. I've really enjoyed reading your pre-trip report. I hope you and your family have a wonderful time!

Oh I hope you and your family have a wonderful time also.pixiedust:

Fish and chips or Mexico both sound good. The kids would sure enjoy either. And considering I don't know how well Japan will go over for the kids I had better make sure they eat something good for lunch.

Glad you are enjoying the trip report. I am going kind of slow with plans, because GS won't be over here til next weekend and he wants to be in on all the planning. GD is closer so is over all the time. But this is a family affair so leaving the best for all to decide on. But me I just can't stand waiting. So on to look for more stuff to do.

LOVE your purchases! Some of those shirts are adorable!

Thanks, hope they all will like them.
Still working on trying to find the 7 dwarfs, I think it is a hopeless cause. I may just have to design an embroidery one for her. (I think that should be ok with copyrites sense it just for family and not selling it) Hope so.

Have you looked on the DISign boards here at the DIS? You could probably find a DISigner that would make one (and personalize it) and then you can print it onto iron-on paper. I made a TON of shirts doing this our last few trips! If you get good quality iron paper (amymickey.com) it last a long time through many washes! :)

If I decide on a tee shirt the iron on would work fine. But if I can find a fleece jacket I think the embroidery would be nicer. Still time to decide. Just depends if I find the time to digitize the design, test it and then sew it out. Oh well I know I have the time, just matters if I am in the right frame of mind to digitize it.

Thanks for your imput though I had forgotten about the iron on.

I started on digitizing the 7 drarfts for my DD jacket, sense I can't seem to find them on anything from disney. Here is happy, grumpy, sneezy, dopey and bashful, taken from some grahics I found on the web.

Oh well if I run out of time before I get them all done will go with the iron on suggestion.

Thanks for the Epcot tips, do you have a particular spot for viewing illuminations?

Can't wait for the weekend to get here. GS and GD will be over again so we can do some more planning. Hope to do a little Christmas shopping with them, so they can get there gifts all completed and wrapped. Busy weekend planned.

Got an email yesterday from the Disney store that my order should arrive today. Well UPS came but I heard him in his truck moving boxes around, stayed for a few minutes, then he drove off.... (what no package) oh my have they lost my package.... website shows it is still on the truck... will have to wait and see if he returns. (all my cyber Monday gifts lost in never never land.)

UPDATE: Got my disney stuff today.. yeah!

Gs coming to spend the weekend with us again, can't wait, he will be here tonight. So now we can do some more planning. GD will be over too. So now to decide what park we will explore tonight, we have only looked at Epcot so still have 3 to go.

While I have been waiting for them I have worked on my signature, thought it should me a combination of Micky and Mardi Gras. Below is what I came up with.

My best tip is set up camp early. Find a spot and take a seat. The rails fill up fast. But because it is "in the round" you can see the high fireworks from almost anywhere in world showcase. But to get a good view of the globe, you need to be at the rail. My DH and I were just talking about this yesterday. I use a wheel chair at WDW (I've had 4 reconstructive surgeries on my ankle), so I find it hard to get a good view because the rail is always at eye level with me (b/c of the wheel chair) but there is so much going on that it's fun to watch anyway!
