Escaping Mardi Gras off to Disney

I'm no expert, but it seems like a wonderful thing for him when he's dealing with such a horrible thing. Disney always heals the heart a tiny bit and I think it's a fantastic way for you guys to bond as well, he'll need other women to fill that void. I just cannot imagine, so I'm sure the love and support you are giving him is the best thing for him right now. It just makes me smile to read your updates!!! :goodvibes

Thanks for the encouragement. It is a difficult time, but hopefully things will work out. Sometimes I feel like I am walking on eggshells, but keep telling myself to take one day at a time. Just trying to give him as much support as we are able. This has been a wonderful week with him here. He seems to be doing fine.
Looking forward to our times together.

We're in Louisiana too..will be escaping Mardi Gras as well. Feb. 10-15 :cool1: we will be bringing my DGD (7) and staying at the wilderness lodge for the first time, usually stay at bay lake towers!

When we got out our Disney box from 2002 the Gkids were so excited about the flat pennies. So I did a little research on the net.Found a site that had a listing of all the machines and what they would stamp. Penny list Also found some helpful hints at Hints and Tips

  1. Use pennies that are dated before 1982. These pennies have no zinc in them and produce a much clearer image when imprinted.
  2. Imprint the face or heads side of the coin. Sometimes the monument on the tail side shows through the pressed imprint.
  3. Clean the pennies (or quarters) that you are going to press by soaking them in a little bit of vinegar. You’ll get a nicer product.

So now I am having the Gkids go through the listing picking out which ones they want. We are also using our maps and those little colored circle dots to mark on the maps of where the machines are to get there favorites. ( Just so in the magic time we don't forget.) Guess we will have to come up with a dot color guide. ie red characters, blue penny machines, gold favorite rides and attractions ect.

Oh this is so much fun - I feel like a kid again.

Another idea I saw on the net was:
pressed-pennies-tubes.jpg

Large packages of M&M minis to make tubes to carry there quarters and pennies in. Cute idea, will save all that digging for change, and will give us another project to do ahead of time.

Well I really need to get back to the park maps to get back to planning our days at disney.

I hope you enjoy the Wilderness Lodge as much as we did. It is a great place to stay. Loved all the little cut out hideaways for sitting having a relaxing time out of the room to unwind.

Epcot Sunday 10th

epcot002.JPG

This will be our first park. Park hours for today are 9-9
Starting off with Epcot because it will be more educational, and I think the Gkids will get more out of it by going here first.

Still looking at QS for lunch. I ws thinking of the Sunshine Season Food Fair. (?) any ideas? (May have to pick out something in the countries, if we do those first) As the Gkids get more into their planning we will see if they come up with anything else. Most of the QS I will leave up to them, giving them some say so. I have made most of the ADR's for the dinners, giving the adults some say so. Dinner in Epcot will be in Japan, Teppan Edo, at 5:40. This is DD choice. She went here her Senior Trip from high school. Hope it is as good as she remembers. I love Chinese, so it can't be that different (?) hopefully.

Of course we plan on staying for the Illuminations Reflections of Earth, That will round out our first day.

FUTUREWORLD

Of course Test track is on the list along with Mission:Space. GS's other grandpa was a race car driver so he can't wait for test track. And my Niece has worked at NASA the last few years during the summer, and has been working on the Mars project in college.

DD and SIL pick Soarin as there favorite. Hubby and I are more laid back, I think Honey I shrunk the audience is more my speed, but will enjoy the others, I think !!

GD also said we can't miss Turtle talk with Crush. HAHA she can be laid back also at times.

Sense I will be riding a scooter (still recouping from 3 foot surgeries) I guess I will be in charge of keeping the autograph books, cameras and penny spots.

On to the World Showcase

P.S. I am only finding time to update because of the Wii

Only one of our four kids knows,, will try to keep it from them till the day before..Driving from ms gulf coast,, right after school 2/8,,,, arriving around midnight

Our favorite QS in Epcot in Tangierine Cafe, huge portions and delicious, however it is ethnic food and may not be liked by kids? Sunshine Season has some great choices as well and I am sure you will enjoy it!

We are wanting to make this fun as well as educational. Epcot is just the place to do that.

Just starting to read about the adventures of Agent P. Has anyone experienced this. Seems exciting and fun. Just worried if we will have enough time as we are only in Epcot one day.

Did some shopping yesterday online at the Disney Store. Took advantage of their Monday Specials. Got all 4 of the adults a tee shirt and fleece jackets. Also for the Gkids got them both 2 tee shirts, would have loved getting them jackets also, just had a problem with sizes. Maybe I will buy plain ones as a last resort and have a graphic artist I know air brush something disney on them. Still looking hopefully will have some luck. But anyway I am so excited, saved over $100 yesterday.

Oh also got the autograph books. Think I will put all of this away for Christmas.

We actually did the Kim Possible experience in Epcot, before it changed to Agent P. We loved it- even the adults. Usually 1 mission only last about 30 minutes. We actually did 3 in one afternoon. We are looking forward to trying this in February too.

It sounds fun. Will at least get them to attempt it. With 4 adults and 2 kids we should be able to figure it out. I think it will help them explore the different countries.
