Escape wedding - extra photographer

Hi
I was wondering if anyone had done this before, we are having an escape wedding in November 2012 but I am worried that DPS will give us back some awful photos, I do not want the only photos of our wedding to be terrible. So has anyone used the photography included with the package but also hired another photographer?

That is what I am doing. I have hired Randy and will have DPS at my wedding as well. I also know that Bridie1996 did the same thing also with Randy.

I have booked Randy and will be having the DPS photographer do photojournalistic style photos!!

I had 2 DPS photographers @ my Escape. I am not sure why you think you will get bad photos. All the recent ones on here from brides using DPS have been amazing, and IMHO, better than some who hired outside photographers.

Some of us only had DPS and have been happy, so you should be mindful not to offend other brides.

I did not mean to offend anyone, I just personally do not like the majority of the ones I have seen, I have been following your trip report in the hope that you can change my mind. Sorry again if I offend you.

I'm having Vicki & David Arndt's. On the DFTW contract they have a line asking for outside vendors so they know it's a possibility. I believe if you are having outside photographers and you request a specific DPS photographer, you are told you probably won't get your request but some are pleasantly surprised to find out they got their request.

We used DPS and Randy for our wedding. We chose to use Randy not because we were concerned we'd get bad pictures ( I had given my coordinator two choices- Regina or Amy and liked pictures from both of them on here) but rather because it was more cost-effective for us to book Randy than get the photojournalistic package from DPS.

Here are my tips:
1)Not all outside photographers are willing to work with DPS. If you decide to book an outside photographer, ask them if they would be okay with a DPS photographer taking photojournalistic style pictures as well. If they say no, and you still book them you lose your DPS photographer.
2)if you book an outside photographer and they are willling to work with DPS, the DPS photographer acts as a 2nd and will take photojournalistic style pictures while your outside photographer is responsible for family portraits etc.
3)as Ms. Esty says, Disney will not garauntee you'll get your choice of
photographer if you decide to use an outside photographer as primary.

my husband and i got married six months ago and were absolutely in LOVE with jess cumbie, who we hired to shoot our disney wedding. we received the dvd of all of our photos months and months ago but it was a fantastic surprise when out of the blue i got an email from her about a photo album she recently put together of our wedding just for fun. i HAD TO SHARE with you girls!!!!

We had DPS only and loved, loved the pictures... Ty is just amazing and is personally such a nice genuine person. Stephen and I couldn't be happier at our choice! I understand how you want to be sure you get the right pictures and want another photographer, but like everything else that was supplied by Disney (flowers included), the photograph was first class all the way!

Check your contract. Misty's says that she is the only photographer for the wedding and that another can not be present. (of course it says this in a much more savy way...)
