Well, I need to get going, so I can get to work early - I have a rep coming in this morning, and I have some stuff to do before he comes in.

Have a good day today!!!

Morning Taglikins!

Hope you all have a great day.

My cruise countdown is now under 40 days!!!! :scared1: I'd better start getting some stuff ready, eh? Like buying my trip insurance and figuring out formal wear.........

.

:rotfl: You know the colors would look good on her..:rotfl2: but maybe something a bit less draperyish..

I know it seems like a bit ostentatious - but I think she could carry it off.
Those big 80's power shoulders are back you know! ;)

Wallyb I've done quite a bit of theatre in my time, but I have never seen as costume that bad!! Well maybe the dames costumes the guys wear in the pantomime each year!! I think you would love to see an English panto, they are really funny!!

Well today I had to give out the funniest announcement in class. Another child brought a note from their teacher to read out, it said, "Class 8 have lost their hampster. If anyone sees her please return her to her cage!" She managed to open the cage during the night and escape! Aparently they could hear her during the day, but couldn't find her!!

ibouncetoo get your skates on girl! You better get shopping!! I'm getting my things ready for next week all ready. I have made my lists and got most of the clothes and things ready in our spare room. Pete as usual will do his sorting no boubt the day before we go whilst I keep reminding him to do so!!

Oh well, the apprentice has just started so I want to go and watch it!! Have a good evening all!!

It's from a famous send up of Gone with the Wind on the Carol Burnett show. Remember the part where Scarlet makes a new dress out of the drapes? Well this was their version. :lmao:

I've always wondered about "panto". What is it?
They bring it up from time to time on BBC - and I know it some kind of Comedy / Play - but is it a specific Play- or is it different all the time.

Right, I will try to explain what a panto is, although as I have found the explanation and what happens really do not explain well to non English folks. It's one of those things you have to see!!

So firstly it is a family show. It is aimed at kids, but the humour has lots of adult undertones and inuendos! So the whole thing is a comedy based on fairy tales. I have been in Cinderella (DH and I built the carridge based on our WDW photo!), Snow White, Jack and the Bean Stalk ( I played the back end of the cow - don't laugh, it was hard work!!) , Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast (I was the good fairy) and Dick Whittington.

So in the comedy we tell the story and sing songs. Now the traditional/wierd parts. The lead male character is always played by a girl. The traditional costume for this role is a jacket/tunic, fish net tights and knee high boots. So basically the princess marries at prince who is played by a girl. Then there is always a mother character, the dame. That is a comedy role. This role is played by a man dressed as a woman. But the costumes are hillarious, really bad OTT make up, shocking coloured wigs and huge dresses (last year one dress was made of news paper with a frying pan for a hat!) Plus there are always baddies, goodies (usully the good fairy), villagers and kings and queens. Oh and usually a comedy animal played by 2 people, usually a cow or donkey!!

Then at the end there is always a song for the audience to join in with and the characters come down into the audience to dance. And in this section there is always a final comedy sketch, this usually involves either, flour and water, wall paper paste or custard pie throwing!!

Like I said it is a family show, lots of singing, dancing, jokes etc. I love doing panto. My husband was the musical director for the past 2 years, and has been roped into being the MD this year. I shouldn't complain though as it has paid for our helicopter tour over the Grand Canyon in the summer!!

I know this all sounds wierd, but it is so much fun!!

Oh I forgot to say, these are only performed over Christmas time.

Just dropping by quickly to say good morning before I head off to work. Only 2 more days to go!! Pete's school finishes today, although he does have parents evening tonight until 8pm.

Only if I can get it in LIME green! At least with those shoulders and that skirt...I'd actually look like I have a waist! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Now... can I show you shoes, a bag,
or maybe a valance to go with that?

Oh Wally, you're something else!

(I've always loved that expression.)

Feeling a tad better today....although I've only been up about 10 minutes, so it may be to soon to tell.

You kids stay out of trouble today.

.

Oh Wally, you're something else!

What kind of Something?

God ibounce ...I so wish you and your sister were on my cruise.
I'm more than a bit concerned about the people on the cruise and how Paul and I will be "welcomed". I've been chatting and lurking over at the cruise thread and I have to say - some of those guys have some very ultra conservative thoughts. And that worries me.
I hope Paul and I will be too scrutinized.
But hey, I guess you can't change what you can't change
and we'll just have to hope for the best.

Whooooo, one more day of work, then 2 weeks off and a trip to see Mickey!!

Wallyb I'm sure you and Paul will have an amazing time on your cruise. I'm sure everyone will be friendly and welcoming. And is a few are not, well, thats their problem!! Hey if you both ever fancy a trip to Europe, we'd love you to visit, we are very welcoming over here!!

Thank so.

Funny you should bring that up - there's a guy over at the cruise board - who is the nicest guy -
Andrew DEREK UK I think he's from Essex.

Hey I PMed you - maybe yesterday - did you not get it?

Have a BLAST on vaca! :woohoo:

Tonight I am doing whats called a "Ladies Night Out" which is sponsered by Stephanie's schools PTO. I'm going to have a couple of tables, where I'm going to set up a mini store. I'm hopefully going to sell alot of stuff, but most importantly, generate alot of awareness about the store existing, and what I can do. My insurance friend is going to help me, and I"m very grateful for that. I bought us both a dinner ticket, because they are suppossed to have a fajita bar there - I thought that sounded good :goodvibes So, please wish me luck, because I'm really praying for this to be a success.

Gotta run - have a good day!!!
