Escape to Neverland - A new Tagliarchy adventure!!

Geffric My parents and my uncle are taking it turns to house sit for us to look after all the pets. As they live 2 hours away they are going to use our house as a base to explore our part of the country. I think we may end up missing oneanother at Disneyland by a few hours. Pete and I need to leave on the Saturday to drive to our hotel at Six Flags Magic Mountain. We have park passes for Saturday there.

So we have named the bunnies. Pete said if I wanted Disney related names he was going to call his Jessica (as in Jessica rabbit!!) and mine (the grey one) is called Jasmine after the princess! I think they are pretty names and go well together!

Belle - congrats on the new mattress and related stuff..

DanaUK - so close and yet so far.. we aren't going to be near DL either. We will get into LAX and DH thinks he can get a free hotel night at one of the hotels. In October I talked with RRBB and family and they think we can meet up with them at an LAX hotel too.. would be nice to see you and Pete too.. Maybe after a day at Six Flags, you can meet us for a cup of tea or a wine or whatever.. or maybe just a call and chat..

Belle - congrats on the new mattress and related stuff.. /quote]

NC Beast did a lot of OT so that we could replace our stuff that wore out after 11.5 years. We hope to paint a couple of rooms in the spring.

We need to look at airfare soon for our trips. NC Beast and I can't decide between DL and WDW.

Maybe we can still work something out. How far is LAX from Six Flags? Let me know when you have finalised your plans and we will see what we can do. It would be a shame to all miss oneanother when we are near oneanother.

So what does everyone have planned for today? I have a lot to do, washing clothes, go to they gym and do all my school planning for next week. Pete forgot to put the internet food order in too so we need to go to the supermarket.

I guess I really should get on, have a great day everyone.

Edit: Geffric I just looked up and it takes about 40 minutes to get to LAX from Six Flags. Maybe we can check into the hotel in the afternoon, spend some time in the park (we need to process our AP's) and then meet you guys in the evening for dinner or drinks. We have a hire car so don't mind the drive.

While I was still in bed, I kept thinking to myself, "it's an hour earlier, I can stay in bed for awhile yet." Then I realized at 8:30 that it was really 9:30  and I sprang out of bed. I don't know why I did this, because I'm not going anywhere today:rolleyes: I guess it just felt weird for me to still be in bed at 9:30am - I never do that :sad2:

Kevin and I watched the movie DejaVu last night - with Dezel Washington. It was really good, and I recommend it to others. It's not a kids movie, so make sure the kids aren't around when you have it on.

Danauk - Those bunnies are so cute!!!! :goodvibes Congrats on the new members of the family!!!
**I love the names!!!!! :thumbsup2

geffric - I need to decide on a cake for Stephanie's first communion too. Good luck with the planning :wizard:

BlueBayou - Our families are very similiar - it's pretty cool!!:) I've been meaning to ask for awhile, and then keep forgetting - how is your DH's new job doing (even though it's not that new anymore). Is he enjoying it?

wallyb - That's a good name suggestion :thumbsup2

NC Belle - Sounds like you had a successful shopping day!!! :)

Well, I need to start thinking about some breakfast
Have a good day today everyone!!!

So far so good. He made it past his six month provisional period. I think it is a lot less stressful. It is much for of an office job, and that was an adjustment. But he has been on two business trips so far, one to Las Vegas and the other to San Francisco.

Danauk - Okay, I have a silly American question. Is your bacon different over there? The reason I ask is they just opened some Tesco stores over here (Under the name Fresh and Easy Market). We have been there shopping regularly since they opened. The British bacon seems more like what we call Canadian bacon over here. We like it fine - and it seems to have less bad stuff in it (But it is still fattening bacon). But it just cooks a little different. Almost like thin cut ham instead of crispy bacon.

Well I got my first ipod!!! and a funny cat story:

In one night, my cat ripped up placemats, then sat there and looked at me like "what? I didnt eat them! I was just playing." Then I wake up to our loaf of bread shreaded and all over the floor with chunks missing. Again I get the "What you left it low!" look. Then I wake up to trash splayed accrossed the living room! GRR that cat! then again I love him, he was the only one who came to sit by me when I was sick.

Yes our bacon and yours are different. Ours is what is known as Danish bacon. I usually buy the smoked back bacon which is less fatty. American bacon to us is more like what we call streaky bacon. Tere are lots of food differences between our countries. I remember when I stayed with a friend in Arizona and she asked if we wanted to get a KFC for dinner on the way home from our day out at the Grand Canyon. She asked if I wanted a biscuit. Now to me a biscuit is a cookie, so I had no clue what a biscuit was!! Now when it arrived it was what we would call a scone. Usually here scones have rasins in and are sweet. I found it wierd having a plane scone with a KFC. And to this day I do not see the appeal of biscuits and gravy at a breakfast buffet!! To me gravy is something you put on a roast beef dinner over your meat and yorkshire puddings!! When we were at WDW over christmas Pete and my friend Andrew decided they were going to cook a proper christmas dinner for us (we were at the BCV so had a full kitchen.) We went to the local supermarket to get the ingredients and lets just say it was the most interesting christmas dinner ever!! For us anyway!! Not that there was anything wrong with it, just different!!
Now when my friend was over here we had similar funny issues. Have you heard of a desert called triffle?
BTW, I shop at Tesco too, they do internet shopping and deliver the food to our door :thumbsup2

Oh and as for other funny American/English translations in England a fanny pack is a whole other thing!! That still makes me laugh when people say that and I see signs for them in shops!!:rotfl: :rolleyes1

Flyingbaby b Have fun with your ipod, I love mine and use it every day!!

Thanks for the explanation. Our bacon we ate this morning was Smoked Back Bacon.

It is funny you mention the biscuit difference. I recall loving 'High Tea' at some resorts we stayed at a couple of times in my childhood. Little Dix Bay and Caneel Bay both offered it. I remember thinking those biscuits sure were more yummy than the type I got normally. That is also where I learned you can't mix lemon and milk in your tea.

My husband just mentioned an "All American" breakfast he saw in Hong Kong years ago. It was two eggs, a 'sausage' that appeared to be a hot dog and baked beans.

Oh - I just looked triffle up online - it sounds like a fruity tiramisu (Lady fingers and booze). Looks quite tasty, is it?

!

Yep, streaky bacon is what our 'normal' bacon is. ::yes::

AND I owen a triffle bowl! LOVE TRIFFLE :thumbsup2 Although what I usually make in my triffle bowl doesn't qualify. It's a layer of brownie chuncks, a layer of chocolate mousse, a layer of Cool Whip (whipped cream) repeated as many times as possible and topped off with a smashed up Symphony bar (a chocolate/toffee candy bar). OH YUM!

.

Hey I make real English Triffle!:thumbsup2

Well I got my first ipod!!!

OMG - I could not live without my iPod!
I use it every day at the Gym. I think if it broke I wouldn't be able to go.
And I'll admit I'm bad - I bast it.:rolleyes1

Triffle is yummy, I grew up on it, every Saturday we had family dinner at my grandparents (me, mum, dad, auntie, uncle and my grandparents). We always had a nice salad, lovely cold meats and grandmas home made triffle for pudding!!

Wallyb I use my ipod at the gym too. I like to look like I know what I am doing when I am on the machines with the ipod in the running band on my arm. Now obviously looking like I know what I am doing and actully knowing are 2 different things!!

ibouncetoo your version of triffle sounds yummy too!!

Danauk I'm only 3 episods in - but I'm totally hooked on Torchwood now!
Great - more time glued to BBC America!

Wallyb I know I love Dr Who and Torchwood. Although I am a bit of a sci fi geek, I loved the x-files, Stargate SG1 and have Stargate Atlantis set on my sky+ (your version of tivo I guess.)

Me and the girls had such a hard time going to sleep last night :headache: It has to be because of the time change - I can't think of any other reason. Stephanie didn't complain about it, but Katie sure did. She kept saying, "Mommy, I can't fall asleep!!!!" She finally did at around 10:30pm. I don't think I fell asleep until about 12:30am, which is frustrating, because I went to bed at 9:45pm:rolleyes: Now, this morning, I'm feeling so so tired!!!!! :faint: But I got a good startel, first thing this morning, when I went downstairs - the security alarm went off:eek: I hurried up and looked at the system, and I set it on "away" instead of "stay" and I triggered the motion sensor (at least I know that works:rolleyes: ) so I hurried up and turned that off - I hope this is not a sign on how the rest of the day is going to be:rolleyes:

What did everyone do yesterday?
I had a very productive day!!! I cleaned out Katies closet, and threw alot away. Then I rearranged Katies bedroom furniture - it looks great in her room now :thumbsup2 Then I vacuumed 3/4 of the house, and cleaned the kitchen floor - it was a great cleaning day!!!! :teeth:

BB - I"m glad your DH is doing well in his new job :) Does he mind going on business trips? Kevin has to travel with his job, and he doesn't mind, but I don't think I would like it (if it were my job) :sad2:

FBB - Congrats on getting your ipod:cool1: My DH gave me one for Christmas, and it's still sitting in the package. I need to take it out and figure out how to put music on it, so I can start walking when it gets nice outside.
**Your kitty sounds like a lovable challenge :cat:

Danauk - With all the talk of British shows, I decided yesterday to put on BBC America to see what is on there. I was pleasantly surprised to see an Elton John special that was made in 1997 - so I watched it (he's one of my very most favorites!!!). There were advertisements for other shows, and they looked really good - I'll have to check them out :thumbsup2

To everyone else - :wave2:

Well, I gotta run and change the sheets (Monday is sheet changing day)
Have a good day today everyone!!!

I'm typically Not a big "sci fi head" - but I do remember as a kid loving a show called Night Stalker & Night Gallery
and a tv movie called Trilogy of Terror as well as begging to see The Exorcist -
all of which ended in me being scared :scared1: to go to sleep - but right back watching :confused3.

This makes me think - "I gotta do my closets!"
I love the feeling after "weeding out".
