Escape to Neverland - A new Tagliarchy adventure!!

Geffric--- I heard that DAP and the events surrounding it were great. What was your part of Marty Sklar's talk?

Hi everyone! I hope all is well. We are busy with holiday preps and my husband's birthday next week. At least I have a couple of days off from work to help out with things.

We have delayed our trip to MD--- weather, roads, and now....I'm under the weather. We are hoping for Wednesday.

One of NC B.'s cousins' husband died late last night while driving home from helping a friend. He was 36 and they have a young son that does not fully understand yet that his daddy won't be home for Christmas.

I am sorry to hear that.. hugs and prayers

Sorry I haven't been here in FOREVER!!!!!!

My computer at home is ill, so I can't post in the morning like I used to.

I've been busier at work, for the holidays, so I have very limited time to post there too. I'm pretty caught up now, so that's good!!! I have 2 jerseys to frame for Thursday, that I can't do until the frames come tomorrow, and 5 other frames that need to finished. Outside of those items, I'm caught up :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I've also had some health issues that I've been dealing with.
I have Raynauds Disease, and I had an attack on my right hand about 1 1/2 weeks ago (a vascular spasm). With treating that, I had some blood work taken that suggested I have something more severe wrong with me, and I have to start seeing a Rhumatologist (sp?). I could have the beginning stages of Lupus or any other Auto Immune Diseases. So, that is how I will be starting out my 2010. I'm very grounded with the idea of knowing I have something, and I'm not losing any sleep over it. The only thing I am worried about, is having another attack on my fingers. This attack was basically the beginning of dry gangrene, and when not treated, my finger could die and need to be amputated. The winter is very unkind to me, and has been for years - I can hardly wait to have some heat again!!!!

I don't know if I'll get a chance to post again before Christmas, so I wanted to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas now!!!!:grouphug:

I love you guys, and I hope Santa is good to each and every one of you!!!!:santa:

Hi everyone! Hope all is well. Not much going on here. The girls LOVED their Christmas. It is nice to see the holidays through their eyes.

We just got back from seeing Alvin - we all thought it was very cute.

NC Belle - keeping your husband's family in our thoughts and prayers, what horrible news.

Slo - sorry you are having to deal with that, it does not sound like fun. We actually discussed it recently on our third trip to a rheumatologist. That is something mom does not have (though her sister did have it). Mom has Fibromyalgia and a touch of rheumatoid arthritis.http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&...t&cd=1&ved=0CB8QBSgA&q=rheumatologist&spell=1

The enviroment is pretty drab around here.
I took down the Christmas decorations at home over the weekend, and I took the store decorations down today :guilty: I have such a love/hate feeling about this. I love having things back to normal, but I hate how boring everything looks. I guess I'll just have to deal with it for the next 11 months:rolleyes:

How was everyone's New Years?
Mine was great!!!!!:dance3:
We went to our neighbors house New Years Eve and stayed there until 2:30am.
New Years Day I stayed home in my PJ's all day - it was great!!!
The rest of the weekend I was home, and put the decorations away.
Several times during the weekend, the girls and I played ALOT of wii - it was great!!!!
It was a good weekend!!!!!:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

Well, I gotta run - Katie will be here soon - this day went by so fast:eek:
Have a good day!!!

DS#2 got his ACT results.. it was a practice one to let him know when he needs to study...although I sent the results to IA, IN, ILL and OHIO State - the real one will be in April.. already got a nice letter from IN re
garding receiving the scores..

I am home today. putting off shoveling the driveway again.. guess I'll clean and do some laundry. Tonight will be busy with BSA and tomorrow I work at both jobs..

Hi everyone! Not much going on with us. The weather has been great. It is fun for the kids to have a chance to ride their bikes.

Hope everyone is having a good start to the new year.

Hi everyone. Remember me??? I know it's been a while, a long while, since I was last here. I just find myself too tired to do much of anything by the time I get to sit down at the computer these days. The kids are keeping me so busy, especially running back and forth between their schools. But it's nice that they both like me around whenever possible.

We had nice holidays. I took the kids down to San Antonio for a few days right after school got out for the break to get out of OF's hair. Since he works retail in a family business things get a little stressed right before Christmas. Ian and Sophia had a great time. They got bicycles for Ian's birthday and we took them down with us. We also went to Sea World one day and to see The Princess and the Frog. (If you haven't seen it yet, very cute movie and both kids want to see it again.) New Year's Day we took the kids to Great Wolf Lodge for a night. I'm not sure whether they had more fun on the Quests with their magic wands or playing in the waves and water slides so we'll have to go back again.

Oh, and I have to share a piece of information Sophia told me tonight when I was putting her to bed. She said I'm "the best mommy in the world." :lovestruc

It's a short day today!!!!!:woohoo::woohoo:
I leave by 3pm :yay::yay:

Have any of you had the $0.99 wraps at Dunkin Donuts?
I got one today, and they are the most ridiculous, tiny things, I ever laid eyes on. Plus, it wasn't very good :sad2:I'm so glad I brought soup AND a sandwich today, or I would be starving by dinner time.:upsidedow

Robin - So good to see you!!!!:goodvibes
I'm glad you had a good holiday:)
Isn't great when your kids tell you how wonderful you are:goodvibes With Stephanie being 11 1/2, she's starting to lose that sweetness, because she's trying to be cool:rolleyes: I miss her little, sweet days:guilty: Katie still hugs me and tells me how great I am, so I'm lavishing every minute of it, because she'll be getting older too, before I know it:sad1:

Well, I gotta run and start getting some work done, here at work, so my employee has something to do tonight.

Have a good day everyone!!

What a dead day, here at work :guilty:
Thank goodness the sun is shining :sunny: that helps make the day not seem so dreary :thumbsup2 I do have stuff to do, which is a good thing - it makes the day go by faster!!:thumbsup2

I realized this morning how much I have let myself go in terms of weight, and how I am eating. Before Kevin lost his job, I was doing so awesome with exercising every day, and really watching what I ate. After he lost his job I was to stressed to work out - I just didn't want to do it. Food became my best friend again, and I was eating alot of junky food. Well, I'm paying for it now, because I've gained about 15lbs since March 30th :eek: I've really fell back into my old ways, which will be hard to dig out of, because I love my sweets :sad1:

Well, it's time to get back to work, and accomplish something today :upsidedow
Have a good rest of the day!!!

Hi everyone!

Hope everyone is having a great week.

Geffric and any other parents of scouts - When, if ever, did you let your kids go to overnight camp (not troop camping). We are seriously considering for this summer - but I am really concerned about not being able to contact my kid/kids for Sunday-Thursday nights.

I was a scout from Brownies through my Freshman year of high school. I LOVE scouting and always wanted to go to summer camp - but my parents never let me. I always thought it was too expensive - but seeing the prices now - it looks pretty affordable. My parents, who took me to the Caribbean every year, must have not wanted their only child, baby girl away without them.

One of the camps in our state offers Horseback riding lessons, which is something my DD9 wants SO much. She said no at first because none of her friends would be going - but the past two nights she has handed me the booklet and told me to fill it out so she can go.

It looks like so much fun to me - but I don't want to push it on her as I attempt to relive something in my childhood.

Please let me know any thoughts/experiences with summer camps.

Monday was my birthday and I let something STUPID get me down.

You see we bought this house knowing the pool (in ground) needed to be resurfaced. That was 10 years ago. We held off because we knew it would end up being more than just the plaster. The two rows of tile were very dated and a couple tiles actually began to crack a couple of years ago and two cap tiles fell off last year (well actually pulled off by a 45 pound kid climbing out of the pool).

So the pool construction was:
Drain the pool
Chip out (remove all the old plaster) and remove the tile
Replace the fittings for the in ground filtration system
Mud over the old, unused solar holes
Mud over the '70s era 'message jets' on the shallow end steps
Fix the plumbing for the changes
Tile the pool (cap and waterline)
Clean the pool
Resurface the pool (we went with a 86% color quartz plaster surface)

On Monday, my birthday, they resurfaced the pool. It looked beautiful in terms of the technique. But I did not see any of the blue quartz beads I was expecting. It did have the beads, but they were all clear quartz.

Turns out they put in the wrong quartz. I should not have let this get me down on my birthday. We are dealing with what I believe is a honest, reputable company. Within 2 hours of me voicing concern they had an employee at my home confirming it was incorrect. They let me know they could refund some $$$ or re-do it. We did not wait to get a price from the manager. Since we waited 10-years to do this - we wanted the surface we picked out.

They chipped out again - and our new surface goes in tomorrow morning.

The whole ordeal made me crab-crabby on my birthday. I am not one to let things get to me - but it did.

I am excited to see how things turn out tomorrow. It's going to be a busy day - after working it's skating night for the girls at a roller rink, paid for my their school's PTO.
