oh that's great! i'd been under the impression that it costs more to get it online. thanks for correcting me (and taking that extra worry off my shoulders). :-)

I totally thought it was too good to be true when I found it, because the first place I found online wanted $200 to do the same thing. :scared1: But doing it myself through Brevard County was super-easy and took another thing off my plate in the days before our wedding. :goodvibes

Can you clarify how that works? Do both forms get filled out and do we pay right away? Then how long does it take to recieve it in the mail? We won't have to get anything done with it in Florida after that?

After you download, fill out, and return the form, the clerk will prepare and send to you an Application to Marry (not a valid license) and an affidavit. These must be signed by the bride and groom in the presence of a notary public. You will return them to the clerk’s office along with the application fee and a copy of each applicant’s photo ID.

Once your notarized application has been received, the clerk will mail you a
marriage license valid for 60 days from the date of issue. There is nothing else you have to do when you reach Florida except hand it to your officiant and sign it in front of him/her.

Sometimes it will seem like you have to wait a while b/c they sit on it so that it doesn't arrive too early. We applied over the holidays and needed ours at the end of January because we were leaving for our early February wedding then. So I just called the clerk and asked that they send it ASAP in case they thought they should hold onto it til February or something.

Thank you! That seems pretty easy! So its all pretty much done online and through the mail? I'm glad we don't have to waste half a day going somewhere! This may sound like a stupid question, but where would I get it notarized? And they will accept different forms of payment? Our date is less than 6 months away so hopefully they won't hold on to it! Thanks for the advice :)

You can find people with notary licenses all over. Usually postal/shipping centers have someone on staff who's a notary. If you work in an office, one of your co-workers might even be a notary.

You can also search online: http://search.notary.net/

I believe Brevard County takes checks and credit cards. You can always call them to get the latest info—they're very helpful! :thumbsup2
