Doing an escape wedding. I have basically designed my own cake but using the mad hatter style and adding a layer. I am allowed to design my own correct?

Yes, you are, but you also have to pay for it. Normally, Disney gives you a credit of 200$ for your own cake, if I'm right!

It's been a long time, but I designed my own cake. I think it was an extra $200 or $300, but that was nine years ago and prices have probably gone up. They did a perfect job and it looked exactly how I envisioned!

They forgot to actually book it! So a wk before we was due to fly over they tried to put a half hearted rushed wedding together,
The wedding planner was rude! Told me not to drink any more of the champagne we had ordered as I.should leave some.for my guests!! This is after I had only had 1 glass,
She kept telling randy the photographer to hurry up he was doing too many posses, and then cut my husbands speech out of the order as she said we didn't have time.

We was shoved in a horrid plain little room instead of the terrace that should have come with our upgraded package.

I was devastated the whole day,and the only thing keeping me going was that fact my husband was there as he had been deployed for the 6 months before hand.

You CAN NOT change the cake in anyway for an escape wedding package.. You can however add an extra cake (that's what were doing) I know it sounds ridiculous but it's the only way to design your own cake...

This may be the case at Disneyland, but at Walt Disney World plenty of couples have been able to customize and upgrade the cakes that come with the Escape package.

FYI - I was married last December at SBP at WDW and I was not allowed to customize my cake. When I asked about upgrading/swapping/paying for customization, I was told no. If I wanted to do that, I needed to switch to Wishes. I mentioned the specific cake I had seen here on someone's board and my Wedding Coordinator said she remembered that cake, mentioned it was pretty and that they used to let people upgrade but they don't anymore. I was limited to only the options in the Escape package and nothing else.

If the cake is the only reason you're switching, it would be much cheaper to order the cake you want from a Disney resort where you're staying or dining, or to use a local bakery that delivers, like It's Tasty Too.

Its not the only reason. Its a big part. But weve been offered a lot more as far as venue choices we switched from sonoma room to napa room at Cali Grill. Also switched our dessert party location to Italy from Vikings landing. Do you ha e any pics of italy west view? And I really want to have my choices as far as cake and flowers. Is there anything else offered to wishes that wasnt to escape?

The changes you're describing are because your guest count is higher with Wishes, right? Because I was offered Viking's Landing for my parent's anniversary dessert party and when my guest count got higher, we moved to a new venue (we took one of the UK venues because Italy wasn't available during Food & Wine).

No my guest count has not changed. I jave 20 ppl including my fiance and myself.
