Hi ladies!

I have searched the Disboards and read Passporters cover to cover and still have a question...

Can you have an Escape ceremony at SBP at 2:30p, followed by a "reception" at Commanders Terrace at Grand Floridian at 3:30 or 4p (and by reception I mean glorified cake cutting to include appetizers, booze, & a visit from Mickey) ?? and if so, are there any minimums for that space? any restrictions? It looks like the perfect space for 16-20 folks and I like that it is outside but covered. I love the Attic but don't want to spend $2500. I was thinking dinner at one of the resorts after that, or maybe a DP ???

I am not even officially engaged yet, so not in a hurry for answers, just doing some pre-planning (and wishing and dreaming!)

Thanks in advance!

Not if another Escape Bride was using that space who was getting married at the WP.

But if they weren't then I think you could but I think there would be a minimum spend as one was mentioned when I was planning but what it was didn't come up.

Ahh, that makes sense that WP brides would get first choice. Maybe someone else can chime in with the minimums. Thanks!

Commander's Terrace has only ever been available as a cake-cutting location for Wedding Pavilion ceremonies and not bookable for any other type of event. However, that's all moot now because DFTW has not been using it at all since construction on the Villas at the Grand Floridian started. So far they don't seem to know if it will ever be returned to service.

The thing to know is that, when you do Escape, the included cake-cutting ceremony takes place right near the ceremony for DFTW's convenience. They don't let you swap around the cake-cutting locations for each ceremony site. Now if you want to book a private event afterward, that's different. :thumbsup2

I like the wedding pavillion alot because of the pictures with the castle in the background. And I really like commander's terrace because its different, not just a ballroom, and it's outside. If they aren't using it then where will they put me after the WP ceremony? I heard someone else say they were put in the Key West room, but I really don't like that room its so boring. Is there somewhere else we could use? This makes me doubt what I want and maybe I should go with SBP instead. Side note: I am going to get a bridal portrait session at the castle soooo IDK. :confused3

:guilty:Any advice would be helpful. I don't really have anyone else to ask. My friends don't understand my obsession with disney, my family would just say go with whatever is cheaper, and my DF just says whatever you want honey.

They might be able to get you the Whitehall Room & Patio at the last minute if it's not being used by another event. Also, they used to do rainy-day cake cuttings on the "porch" outside the Wedding Pavilion many years ago. I can see how that wouldn't work if another event were coming into the WP after yours, but if not... might be worth asking. Sago Cay is another location I'd ask about as an alternative.

OMG thank you so much I really like both of those. That makes me feel so much better about my options.

I was able to snag the Whitehall Room/Patio for my Escape wedding at WP! It was originally booked for something else when I asked my planner about it. I got my BEO, and there it was! Such good news!!!! So you can ask about it. I will have 18 guests and get to choose up Til the day before whether I want it outside or inside.
