Error in Park Hours..

Planned my schedule today according to the times posted on the DIS homepage...which stated that the MK opened at 8 am today. (Only had time guides current as of NYE) My Daddy and I showed up at MK at 7:40...thinking we were ahead of our game...and indeed we were since the park did not actually open until 9:00 am. I just wanted to note the incorrect time. I will have to double check from now on...

I am noticing the DIS board is showing the MGM hours on January 19th as being 9am - 830pm. Everywhere else I check has them listed as 9-7. I wonder which is correct. It makes a BIG difference to me!!!

I always go by what Disney has posted on their website as far as hours. I figure that they should be the most up to date on their own hours.

When we went a few years back, Disney changed the time that they opened New Years Day without notice. We had checked with a CM the day before and they said they would open at 8 am, and we stood in line with several hundred other people outside TTC because they changed the time to 9. The hours are always subject to change, so even the best laid plans may not always work out. As for differences in times between the Dis and other boards, I would definately check the official WDW website and go with that.

Has Anyone Noticed That On May 1-3-5 2006 The Calendar Lists Epcot World Showcase Hours As 11-7 But Illuminations At 9 On The 1st And 3rd, And No Illuminations On May 5. Hope This Is Not Correct.

Good point Amy. You can rely pretty heavily on the park hours posted at the gates to the park, on the day-of, but cannot rely as much on any other source.

Yes, I've noticed quite a few errors on the DIS January calendar. For example, on January 12, it says there is an Animal Kingdom EMH in the morning. The only EMH on that day is the MK in the morning (which is not noted on the DIS calendar).

Postalone, we're also going to MGM on January 19th! The hours on the Disney website are 9-7, and that's also been confirmed on another website I subscribe to. Hope to see you there!

Shoot--last week I even found the times guide you get with the park map at the parks was inaccurate! It listed Tom Sawyer's Island as opening at 10 am --- instead it opened at 9 am. The Pirate taco place also stayed open a couple of hours later than the 4 pm closing listed. Go figure.

It never has been unusual to extend hours for anything.

The cm you spoke with had wrong information. Our schedules come out 2 wks in advance. Disney would not have changed the opening to an hour later with no notice and pay several thousand cast members who show up for an 8am opening. The several hundred other people who showed up at 8am? There are people who show up early every day knowing how much they can accomplish by being one of the first into the park.

If disney changes the hours it's normally to extend them, and we'll get at least a weeks' notice.
