It's been at least 10 years since I've had to go in, but I had to resort to ER 2 or 3 times when the vomiting wouldn't stop. They put me on IV fluids, gave me anti nausea medicine & injected me w/ demerol(sp?). The real help was the anti nausea meds & the fluids.
Found out when I bumped into one of the ER docs about a week or two after I had been in that demerol is narcotic, which I didn't know. I mentioned to him that it didn't help the headache & made me jittery, paranoid, & kind of overall loco. He told me I am probably sensitive & shouldn't let anyone give it to me again. Sometimes it will make you doze a bit, but the headache doesn't budge, at least in my case.
For me I'm best w/ strong dose of ibuprofen & as much water as I can take in. Occasionally I'll try some cola to see if that helps, too.
Sure hope you get some relief. I've walked in your shoes -- and they pinch!
