ER....did not need to see that while eating

I don't like how none of the storylines were really resolved...what happened to the burnt guy?

They kind of walked away from that, didn't they.

They had a blip where they asked the cop towards the end...it came across as filler.

Who was that in oncology...the surgeon that reamed out Luca earlier?
Yes. And don't you think they would be doing an exam behind a curtain or with the blinds closed?

OK and didn't the promo for last week say something along the lines of "you'll never believe what happens?" Did anything amazing happen tonight? I didn't think so. I keep getting sucked into watching this because there's nothing else on on Thursdays.

And what was the ew factor at the beginning. I missed the first few minutes.

Thanks for the recap on last weeks promo--

This is the first time I have watched ER regularly (hey, I'm 3 shows now!).

I didn't see anythign spectacular....do you remember any of the seens they showed?

The beginning was horrible (ewwww kind!) Luca was speaking with what's her name (head honcho walks with crutch) outside about his tardiness and you hear this horrible screaming---and police are trying to get this guy by following him in the squad car. The guy who has disfiguring 3'rd degree charred burns all over his body--ran the streets of Chicago to get to the hospital.

A brief blip after the commercial with them having some difficulty giving him an IV and getting him sedated--and bim bam boom he's on the way to ICU.

This is frustrating for the viewer as we want to know how it ends, but it's pretty realistic for the ER. The patient is stabilized, sent upstairs and the ER staff usually has no clue what happens to them after that.

Hmmm. That's interesting. That's one thing that's always bothered me about this show was that so many cases just sort of disappear. But, you're right about the ER staff. I guess we're supposed to be seeing it from their POV. After 11 years it finally all makes sense. :rotfl:

I don't remember the scenes. I just remember everyone talking on a thread that we didn't believe it was going to live up to the hype. I'm trying to find that thread and I can't find it. Thanks for the little recap of the beginning.

OK, here is my post from last week's thread. Of course, you'll notice I did end up watching it again. :rotfl: Also notice I complained about them not resolving the story. And, I posted last week on a different thread that I was giving ER the "heave ho". Maybe I just have an illness. :rotfl:

OK, so I said I wasn't going to watch anymore and that was just reinforced by everyone not liking last weeks episode (I didn't watch it). But, I did watch it this week. It was eh. I too was not affected by the baby story. But, in true ER style, they sort of left it in the air, so that kind of made me mad. I noticed the preview for next week was another "You'll never see it coming" episode. You're not fooling me this time NBC! I'm not buying it.

The scene I mostly remember is Neela posing with the lolllipops! :rotfl: I hope we get a brief scene in Iraq when he opens THAT package!

Maybe the "you'll never see it coming" was about the burned guy in the 1st 30 seconds, as that DID take me off guard! Not enough to justify that much hype, though.

The dad freaked me out to--but the music gave it away that he would do something sudden. And it certainly wouldn't be the first time that happened on ER. So I guess I did see that one coming.

I really liked tonight's show, and I admit that I laughed several times, including the part that Neela said.

I liked tonight's episode. I think it was more or less used for setting up some "future" scenarios.

They have ALWAYS left cases unresolved. They use them to bring out points about the main characters in many instances. The whole purpose of the burned guy was for Luka's scene at the end. Who else thinks they are setting up for Abby to really "miss" Luka? And I am glad to see them continuing the Neela/Gallant storyline. And I know most people don't like Sam, but I do. (Figures, I usually have the dissenting opinion on most threads here :rotfl: ) She is one of the more realistic characters in my opinion. I think they are setting up big storyline with her and that new head of nursing, um, "witch".

I guess the burned guy was the shocking part but I think he was just another metaphor. They do that all the time on ER. Did you hear Luka at the end talking about if he was burned beyond recognition would anyone even know it was him? Then Abby said she thought she would. I think it was more about how Luka feels lost again and alone. There have been lots of storylines that are unresolved on ER but I think a lot of times some patients are there just as a reflection of what one of the other characters is feeling. Anyway that's what I get out of it after watching this show for so darn long!

Aidensmom ~ I guess great minds think alike. I just finished my post and then came back to the thread and read yours. :rotfl:

She's an interesting character, although she's almost a bit too perfect.
She has a PHD, she can intubate a child better than the doc, etc. Nurse managers aren't usually so...hands-on. In real life, they make schedules and go to meetings. They don't normally walk around the unit and micromanage the staff. But if she stayed in her office, where would the fun be, right? :teeth:

I agree that Sam's new schedule is going to be a plot point for awhile.

I liked the new nurse manager. She put Sam in her place at the end and I really like Sam, but she treated Luka so badly. The scooter was electric or gas, wasn't it? That's why the dad was so mad at the mom, she bought it and the lead poisoned woman had burn marks on her stomach from it.

The Neela and Abby scenes really crack me up, last week and this week. That's how real girlfriends are! :goodvibes

Drat - I forgot about ER on Thursday night. Why are all the good programs on at the same time.

You are right, the levels of nursing are getting more and more. LLN often can prescribe and do a number of duties. They often are more hands on and used when Doctors can't be there. I thought I liked her, at 1st, not so much now. Like relationships in that ER are a big deal.

Does anyone think the new cheif is a rather like the Doc that lost his arm and was killed (why can't I think of his name, I always called him ***** head!) Anyway just like a mini him, or the road to be him. No personal skills at all and took a job in a feild where they got respect, because they would never get it in real life with those behavoirs and personaility.

ugh! I hate Morris - such a pompous *** - oh, yeah - like some doctors I know!

The new nurse manager is a very unlikable character - it figures that Carrie hired her (and liked her!)

I like Neela. She has had some good lines this season so far. Glad to see they are brining back the thing with her and Gallent.
And she is finally standing up for herself.
