$eptember No Buy-All Are Welcome!

i'm gonna try for the 15 days...coz i've already blown today and we have a wedding (marriage license, hotel rooms, etc) in 2 wks.

Today I bought the grandson some shorts and jeans for our disney trip in December. And I need to gas up the car.

Tomorrow should be nothing. In fact, nothing until Monday or Tuesday.
Wish me luck.

Well I was hoping today would be a no-buy day but DH just called me with good news and is coming home from work early and wants to take us out to dinner. That is rare, so I guess we are spending today. Good news is, it's our favorite mexican restaurant, which is awesome, but not very expensive, so still low-spend. :) yay!

Well, I'm back and in for September! August went pretty well...yesterday looked like a spend day, since I bought the last textbook DH needed for college, but then the order got cancelled, so I guess it was a no-buy day after all! That makes lucky 13 no-buy days in August! :thumbsup2 For September, I'm going to try to throw in a few budgets, too. Still sticking with 10 target non-spending days. Also, I'm going to leave out what we spend on bills and gas, since those seem to be non-negotiable facts of life.

No-buy Days: 10
Groceries: $250
Eating out: $150
Home imp. (garden, etc.): $100
Misc.: $200

The budgets are going to be hard to stick to...we use Mint.com to track our spending, and we always go over on eating out and groceries. Food is our kryptonite!

September 1- $0 :yay: I always do well on the months I start with a $0 day, so we stayed in and cleaned the house for company coming in this weekend.

Next MONTH is Disney so I know that will help me reach my goal of 15 $0 spend days!!

Monthly Budget:

Groceries/Household Items: $220

Gas: $250

Extras: ??? I am not setting a budget for this as I don't want to spend ANY extra money this month. We seriously need every extra penny for the mouse.

So far...

Groceries/Household Items: $220-$102.92= $117.08 REMAINING
$74.46 Target
$13.69 Dollar Tree
$1.08 Factory Card Outlet
$5.42 ALDI
$8.27 Target
Total: $102.92

I know I spent over half of my September budget for groceries and household items BUT we have TONS of food in our house and we needed a cleaning product stock-up trip. I really hope we can stay in our budget! I actually spent this money in the end of August but am counting it towards September.

Gas: $250-$60= $190 REMAINING

I received a raise this week (it was definitely unexpected) and I figure that it works out to pay for my gas for the week. I will still continue to include my gas into the budget. We now have an extra $100 or more a month to pad our income. It is MUCH needed!

DH will be having an interview for a company in the city and we are praying that it works out. I also was contacted by a couple of families to be their occasional babysitter. I'm hoping that we are finally going to start bringing home more money a month!

Extras: $23.81 SPENT

$0 Spend Days:

September 1: $0
September 2: $0

I am new to this, I have been a lurker for a very long time. It is time I got on the wagon. Not that I am trying to have many 0.00 days, it is we are just trying to cut back period. We already coupon to the best for our family needs. There are 6 people in my family, DH(40's), DS(10) DS (10) DS(8) GM(83) and ME(40's).

Budget for September 2010 (leaving out house and cars, they are a set price each month). We normally in a month spend 2K, we are going to try and cut it down to 1,500 per month so that we can add $500 a month to our emergency fund. Within in the next year, we will need a new to us vehicle and we want to make sure we can pay cash for it. We may have to forgo eating out to make our budget work.

Charity $500.00
Groceries $200.00
Gas $150.00
Utilities/Cable/Internet - $275.00
Eating Out - $50.00
Savings - $300.00
School lunches - $30.00
Misc - $50.00

We are going to Disney for a very short 4day/3night stay, we are AP members and got a great deal with passholder discounts for POR. We take most of our food with us, maybe get 1 or 2 counterservices, but we get 2 or 3 meals and split between the 5 of us. Granny doesn't do Disney. That will eat into our grocery bill, but at least I have such a low grocery bill, we can splurge on 2 counterservice meals while at Disney. I have 2 gift cards for gas, so that will be FREE to me. We still have approximately $55.00 on our Disney gift cards from birthday promotion last year. Our goal is to have money in the bank so we can pay cash for a new to us car next year. Wish me luck.
