My husband was stationed in Germany during Desert Storm :smooth: He is always saying how much he misses the food, so can anyone suggest which place in Epcot would be the best place to go ? Would I need PS since we will be there 4th of July week ? :love2: I don't really care if it's lunch or dinner- I am open to any suggestions :listen:

On October 17, 1810, Crown Prince Ludwig of Bavaria celebrated his marriage to Princess Therese of Sachsen-Hindburghausen with one of the grandest festivals of Munich had ever know. Thus began the Oktoberfest tradition.

For 16 days late in September and early October, millions of celebrants from around the world are drawn to Munich. Music, beer, and Gemutlichkeit flow freely in the enormous, coloful tents that crowd Theresienwiese, a fairground named after the Prince's bride. Frauleins in peasant constumes serve steins overflowing with beer, while revelers feast on such traditional Oktoberfest fare as roasted chicken and seemingly endless varieties of Sausage called Wurst.

Thanks for that info !! :) Thats is really helpful- I think hubby will have to eat there alone as I don't think that my 11 yr old will enjoy it to much :sad2:

there is also a little stand right out side of the restaurant that has selected items like Bratwurst, sauerkraut, pretzels, and other things. So if he does not want to go by himself he may be able to pick something up there

Actually the food there is pretty kid-friendly! An 11 year old should be able to find something to eat-- chicken, salad, roast pork. It's not all sausage and kraut!

If you're there when the entertainment is on stage, it's really fun, especially for kids.

Go as a family! You won't regret it! :teeth:

Biergarten is really fun to eat at....the inside is really pretty I think, and the entertainment is fun (and loud). The food was really good. DH is really picky about food - as much as most children are, and we both really enjoyed it. There is a good selection so you can pick out things for your child - and every WDW restaurant serves mac and cheese!

My DH is AD AF, and we were at Ramstein in the late 80s. Would not DREAM of missing the Biergarten. We loved the food in Germany...I am only afraid that my DS will refuse to leave...his tastes run that way. Which is why we are delaying a trip to the new military lodging in Germany.

Yes, definately try the Biergarten. We tried it for the first time last year, and I'm sure we'll be going there every time we go down from now on. Great food, good entertainment. A great place to eat!

Well you guys talked me into it- :disrocks: Thanks for everyones help !!!

My family and I went to the Biergarten a couple of weeks ago. What a wonderful time we had. The best part was that my grandparents came from Germany. My Grandmother has been deceased for 33 years. I tell you when I started to eat there was a flood of memories that came back to me. It was like I was sitting in her kitchen. The foods were all those that she made me as a child. I got on my cell phone and had to call my mother, all we needed was Grandma!!!

My wife at first wasn't sure if the kids would enjoy the food. It was the best meal we had while we were there.

i had a 1 1/2 yr old and a 8 yr old when we went we were able to find something for both of them, and if you find one thing they will eat you can go back as many time as you want. They shows there are just wonderful and the get the kids involved. I will be going there for lunch in March, cant wait.

We eat at Biergarten every time we go to DW. My husband insists on it. And he's the one who normally doesn't eat anything that doesn't have ground beef in it (spaghetti & meatballs, meatloaf, stuffed peppers, lasagna, tacos, etc.) I was very shocked to say the least when he decided that Biergarten was #2 restaurant choice for him (50's Prime Time is #1 because he can get meatloaf there!) Our kids were 9, 10, and 13 last summer when we were there last and they all love it. Luckily I was raised eating lots of German food so it works for me too. I don't think you'll be disappointed if you try it.

I'm glad a lot of you said it was kid-friendly as my DH has the tastes more like a little kid and I like the grown-up stuff! I really want to try this place but wasn't sure what he'd actually like! Now I feel better about it!

Thanks to everyone who has helped in making this ( one of many ) decisions,I am still trying to track down the tickets that I want :moped: so hopefully it will all fall into place..

We grew up on German food, Biergarten is wonderful..for lunch or dinner. Definately go.
