Epipen Jr in the parks?

Our son has an egg allergy, but not a very bad one unless he eats actual whole egg, and even then, Benadryl would probably do the trick as he gets hives, not anaphylaxis. We carry an Epipen just in case, but it's not supposed to be subjected to extreme temps.

I am 99% sure he wouldn't need one, and he hasn't ever had to use one, so I'd rather not bring it, but does first aid at the parks have them in the event of emergency?

I would take his Epipens with you. It looks like FRIO makes an Epipen case; my DH has used these for years for insulin and it works well.

I don't believe they do. You must take it, never take the chance. My daughter had an egg allergy (just graduated from it!) but still will be brining the epipens for her nut allergy. Check out an Allermates case.

I realized I gave opinion without answering the question…yes, to my knowledge First Aid at each park has Epipens for emergencies. However, if someone is on the other side of the park and has an allergic reaction it can be a considerable distance and time to get to First Aid - precious time that can make a difference. If someone in your party has an Epipen it is always advisable to bring it with you.

My son's had an epipen since he was your son's age and he's an adult now. I've not generally seen the epipen treated with careful temp control other than not keeping it in a hot car or something similar. Every time the nurse carried somewhere for school it was just in a bag with her for example. I'd suggest keeping with you on your person (in your purse/bag where it is likely to stay the coolest as you'll be in and out of a/c. My son also uses insulin (type 1 diabetes) and we were more concerned about not frying that I guess.
