Go here Jim Hill Media and read the article dated Feb 19, "Your First Look at Project Gemini"

Your Thoughts??

At first when I was reading the article I thought, "Ooooh, I don't like change." The more I read though, the more I liked the ideas. I think the name change is definitely needed. I like a lot of the ideas. I think it sounds great. The only thing that sounds weird to me is a roller coaster in Epcot. That seems so out of place for some reason. I think the ideas are great and I hope the project goes forward.

I hope one part of the article doesn't come true -- that they close one park each day of the week until the economy picks up. Especially not in the summer! Yikes! Oh, and the "Battle Bots" type restaurant doesn't do anything for me at all. LOL! :p

I might be wrong but didn't Disneyland used to close on specific days?

Dare I hate to say it, but it may be a good idea in some aspects.. Think of all the money, wages, operating expenses that can be saved. Animal Kingdom, the animals could really be taken care of, (not that they aren't ) but I wonder if people walking around stresses them... they could use a destress day per week. Same with the upkeep of the vegetation/plains around there... hard to do landscaping in the Tiger trail with people walking around.

It wouldn't be so bad closing each park for a day if they would pass the savings on to the consumer but we all know what the chances of that happening are!

I have to say that I don't think all these changes will come to pass, largely for financial reasons. It would cost the already hurting Walt Disney World a BUNCH of money that I just don't think they have right now. I can see the name change happening (and I think it's a good idea), but I don't think they can afford to revamp nearly every Future World attraction. I also hope they don't turn Spaceship Earth into a thrill ride (it's my favorite WDW attraction so I have to admit that I hope they don't change it at all). I also think that they would not set it up to be so similar to Test Track as the writer of this article believes--what's the point in having two very similar headliner attractions very close to each other. Hmmm...I take this with a grain of salt but we shall see.

Interesting but I have to agree that I don't think it will really happen strictly for financial reasons. If they can't do it the whole way then I hope they don't try a lite-version of this plan. I am not sure it will work with just part of the plan and it may hurt Epcot more than help it.

My first fear when I saw what the article was about was that they would remove the big fountain. I love that fountain and I could (and have) just sat in that area for an hour and watched it. I am glad to see that these plans keep the fountain just the same. :)

Green sounds good to me. I hate that granite "tribute to me" in the entrance. No flames please, but it looks like a "Holocaust " memorial. Very depressing! I'm not sure that is the impression WDI wants it's guests to have upon arrival. Don't know about the rest, but change is good.

Disneyland used to close on Mondays many years ago. They used that day to perform maintenance on the park.

tlgoblue I know you didn't do this on purpose but could you please fix your typo in the no flames sentence?

:o OMG:o

Jipsy, Thank You!

I'm so sorry for that. I don't use spell check, and it might not have caught it anyway. I AM a pathologic proof reader and can't believe I missed that. I have been busy today and preoccupied. Thank you for pointing that out to me! I am so embarrassed. (Not something that happens to me very often.)

Most Humbly Yours,
Tracy

WOW!

I doubt Eisner will go for it though.

I like a lot of what I read. However I do NOT like the idea of changing SE at all!!! That's probably just me though. I admit I was saying not too long ago that the name Future World just didn't fit. Discoveryland would be much better suited.

I liked everything on that plan *except* the change to SE. Otherwise, I think all of it would be neat!

I agree, most of it isn't going to happen. :( And, unfortunately, the one most likely to happen (due to the sponsor) *is* SE. :(

wow, that's a lot of changes! When I first started reading it I was thinking the changes would just be disappointing, but the farther I read the more impressed I was. It sounds pretty cool, and I hope that a lot of it will actually happen.

But I don't think they should change Spaceship Earth--I like that ride! (and I'm under 18!:teeth: )
