Yes ... Epcot used to be EPCOT Center. When Walt first devised the idea of EPCOT, it was to be an "Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow", and the area we know as the theme park was designed as its central hub. Around the park there was supposed to be living areas (homes, apartments, etc), schools, parks, and other businesses. Which would mean that the hub would be EPCOT Center -- the center of EPCOT.
However, Walt's plan for a controlled community didn't really work in the real world, and so the theme park area was as far as they got. After several years, the "Center" was dropped because people didn't remember the original intent, and the park simply became known as "Epcot."
