We are going with another family in the spring and have 5,6,7 year olds. We are planning on doing Epcot and one afternoon want to do the world showcase with adults enjoying some drinks thru the countries. What is there for the kids to do in the world showcase?

lots. Each country has something for the kids to do-like color a mask, learn your name in their country, The trains in germany are fun to watch, the boat ride in mexico, the warriors exibhit in china,

The Phineas and Ferb adventure is another thing fun for the whole family.

Our kids live for the Phineas and Ferb/Perry the platypus spy adventure thing. They also loved a lot of the street performers, especially the acrobats. I never understood why people assume kids wouldn't be into the World Showcase. I realize there aren't any/many rides there, but there is so much to explore and snack on and watch and shop for. It's really a favorite of my kids (ages 9 & 6).

My kids love world showcase. The youngest was 3 the first time. They love the street performers, shopping, and the fun photographs that can be taken at each country. I haven't heard of a kid not enjoying world showcase. I don't know where it gets the reputation for being "not fun" for kids.

Because for the first 10 (20?) years of its operation, none of the stuff mentioned in this thread (KidCot Stations, Kim Possible, Phineas/Ferb) existed. The reputation was earned and well-deserved until Disney took steps to correct the problem. Now, there are lots of things for kids to enjoy. In 1985?? Not so much.

I am another one who is always flabbergasted at complaints that there is nothing for children in WS. Granted, there are no rides at the moment. But there are certainly enough attractions and live performances to keep them entertained. Here's a few off the top of my head:
Phineus & Ferb adventure
Character M&Gs at almost every pavilion
Gran Fiesta boat Ride
Mariachi Cobre band
China pavilion movie
Chinese acrobats
Miniature trains in Germany
Flag waving performance in Italy
The American Adventure
Voices of Liberty
Taiko Drummers in Japan
Traditional singing group (I'm not even going to attempt to spell it) in Morocco
Impressions de France movie in France
Serveur Amusant juggler in France
British Revolution band
Children's maze in UK pavilion
O Canada circle vision movie
Lumberjack show.

Now, granted, not every attraction (like the last one listed :rolleyes2 ) will appeal to everyone. But there is certainly enough to keep them from being bored for at least one day.

I think it gets a bad rap cause the parents don't know what to do there either.

My son has loved going through world showcase. Loves the idea that he is going to a new country. One time we got him a disney passport he begged to go back on a non-Epcot day to finish getting his passport stamped.

1) Three Amigos ride in Mexico and the market, watching the volcano
2) Perry adventure
3) terra cotta warriors -
4) Ice treat in japan
5) Kidcot
6) different architecture representing different countries
7) performers
8) cast members from those countries
9) movies about the countries (loves the Canada one!)
10) Different food snacks shops

Tons of nooks and crannies to explore

As many have responded, there are plenty to do with the kids. We buy the passport they sell in the Photo Center across from Spaceship Earth and as we explore each country they have a CM stamp the passport and write something in the native language (this is in the Kid Cot station). The boys love this and since we take them out of school we explain the learning they receive there. One even brought it in for show and tell at school.

We had passed on the Phineus and Ferb hunt the first time because they informed us that we had to commit a half an hour, however decided to try our last day. It was awesome!!! The kids and adults enjoyed it! It added such a fun activity and let us explore each country more. You could do one country or several, which helps too, since it does not take away from the adult experience. We had wished we didn't pass on it the first time! Oh and this also lead to one of my favorite moments. After we saved China, we brought them in the store and bought Fortune cookies...they had not tried them before and they just loved it! The photo below is them with their cousin.

My boys also loved the street performers too. They were 4 (almost 5) and 7 on our last trip. Enjoy!
