First night we'll be heading to the World Showcase (arriving at 3pm - seemed like the best use of our time) and I want to try to get a reservation for dinner. Our daughter is 11 and tends to be picky - nothing spicy or too exotic.

Suggestions please? We don't care about character meals - just a nice dinner where all 3 of us will actually eat.

Does it have to be in World SHowcase? The only place in World Showcase with american-ish food is LeCellier.

But Coral Reef might have potential.

Also Captain's Grille just outside International Gateway would be a good American food option.

I think with a picky eater if you really are looking for somewhere where she will eat something - you just need to scour the menus to pinpoint one of her likes.

Are menus posted online? Surely someone sells pizza or chicken fingers on a kids' menu. I would think standard fare is in high demand for the kiddos.

allears and wdw websites have menus for viewing (wdw has table only)

My son who is a picky one, enjoyed Tutto last year. ( he had pasta with butter and meatballs on the side)We all really enjoyed our meal here as well.

LeCellier he likes as well.( usually hotdog and fries or filet and fries)We also enjoy here.

Biergarten we have paid for him to sit there with an apple.off our list for now.

Ah - online menus!! Thanks for that! I can choose now and make a reservation! :thumbsup2

I'd vote for Via Napoli - if nothing else I'm sure they could make plain pasta with butter or something else simple. The Princess dinner at Akerhus is great fun also if you think she'd eat something there.

Rose and Crown in England also has pretty "blah" food. A picky eater might find something she likes there.

If you don't see stuff on the adult menu, check out the kids menus if she is not a big eater. Older children (and adults) are generally allowed to order fromn the kids menu.

They'll do an adult size portion of kid's food at pretty much any restaurant. Although at 11, she may be ok with the kid's portion. We have a lot of experience with kid's menus. My uncle is incredibly picky.

I agree with this, we have had many meals for DS come from the kids menu but in larger portions. the servers have all been very gracious (with the one exception of Les Chef's where the waiter was unpleasant about it, we left after drinks and without ordering main courses because of this!)

Pretty much all kids meals in WDW are blah. Cheeseburgers, hotdogs, mac and cheese, nuggets, and the likes. So chances are any restaurant will work. Even the more exotic buffets, life Boma, have a section with kids food. I'd choose based on what you guys want. DD will be fine!

My suggestions:

Tutto or Via Napoli - Cheese pizza or pasta. Via Napoli also makes a great kids salad.
Teppan Edo - Grilled chicken, steak or shrimp. Not spicy at all - yummy dipping sauces to make things more appealing - the grilled veggies are very good - even my non-lovin-veggie kid ate them here.
San Angel - Our kids loved the cheese quesidillas and virgin margaritas.
Nine Dragons - Kids loved the chicken bites that come with a sweet and sour sauce on the side for dipping.
:)

Thanks for the great info! She will never eat enough to make ordering off the main menu worth it - she's more a 5 meal snacker kind of kid - which is fine.

Getting to look at the menus really helps. I can see even the more *exotic* places have enough bland kid food to appease her. I think we'll just narrow down what we grown ups would like and then look to see if the kids menu will be ok.

:thumbsup2
