Our family pictures are on the concrete long pillars at the EPCOT entrance
Family and friends look to find our pictures as I assume others families do the same

I heard the pillars are being moved
To where ?

Anyone know ?

i never heard anything about them moving.
if they are moving them, that is pretty pointless imo

I forget what thread (I'll try to find it) talked about upcoming projects and from what I understood it was greenlit to transform the entrance into Epcot...that was actually my initial question/concern regarding this was what will happened to those especially the ones people paid for. I'm not exactly certain anyone had an answer for that.

Ok found it...http://disboards.com/threads/guardians-of-the-epcot-galaxy.3522637/page-4 page 4 is where the OPs topic starts in. I haven't read up to the last page yet at this time so I'm unsure if anyone has mentioned anything about where all the stuff from the entrance of Epcot would go to or if it would just be taken completely out of the park. Now that I'm thinking about it I can't remember if it said the entrance was for sure going away right now or if it was still just in the rumor phase

I have family pictures on the pillars too. Each time we've entered EPCOT in the last few years, I've prepared myself that it may be the last time to view the tiles.

While I agree the pillars are not the most attractive architectural element in EPCOT, they hold very "special cargo."

Does anyone have an opinion on whether or not they will be moved to another viewing location?

If I remember correctly, there was always an end date for the display. Something like ten years or twenty years or so. If they are getting close to that time, then they may be in the process of planning the next step. I personally would like to see it go back to the uncluttered look it had before.

It was a minimum of twenty years.
Since the last photo-etchings were sold in 2006-2007, it could concievibly be they will remain until 2027.
(But. I'm thinking that they might just start the time-frame from about 1999.)
As with all things at WDW, time will tell.

I wonder if a solution that wouldn't ruffle as many feathers might be taken. Since a lot of the space on the "tombstones" went unsold, I wonder if they would consider consolidating/relocating the photo panels towards tombstones on the sides and then opening up the center section. That would allow then to keep the reported "20 year minimum" pledge and still allow them to remove congestion to the area.

I think the rumor was that the pictures must be displayed for so many years, but not necessarily in the same location, so they would be moved to another spot in future world, possibly Innoventions.
