Epcot vs. Animal Kingdom

I think it depends on what your family interests are. We are spending at least 2 days at EPCOT on out trip next year. My DS8 in really into Science. One of his favorite things to draw pictures of is DNA. Also, we have never really explored the World Showcase, so we plan on doing that.

I love them both so much. They are both so beautiful in different ways. They are my two favorite parks. I love the theming at AK - and AK has four great rides in my opinion: EE, Safaris, Dinosaur, and Whirlsomething... Plus of course you get the amazing Oasis, terrific shopping, and wonderful shows. I just like being there - and now with Tusker House open again and Yak and Yetis, the food is great too. But then Epcot is also beautiful and has good rides, though I don't care for Future World very much with the exception of the rides. I do love the World Showcase.

So - imho the best idea is to go to AK - get there for rope drop, ride the rides, see a show and a few tigers and gorillas, and then about 3 pm scoot over to Epcot for the late evening in WS and Illuminations. Don't worry about the parade in AK - it doesn't compare with those at MK. So why not do both your options? Oh, and if you take a taxi from AK to the Beach Club, you can save yourself some time and just walk over to the International Entrance to Epcot right at WS.....

As someone who has been traveling to WDW for over 20 years and made just as many visits, I am partial to the parks that I know, and more specifically, the ones that defined my childhood, adolescence and now adulthood (im 25). I just haven't gotten that magical feeling from AK yet. I make an obligatory visit there every time I go, but have yet to spend more than half a day there. As for EPCOT, I have alot of memories there and I really enjoy it. I could spend days there in future world and world showcase, or watching Illuminations. Its taken 10 years for MGM to grow on me!

I would personally pick Epcot. I can't say I have a favorite park, but I can say this: Nothing is more relaxing than taking a leisurely evening stroll through the world showcase. All of the shops, the dining, drinks, shows, and it just looks oh so pretty all lit up.... ahhh..... oh, sorry. Anyway, I vote for Epcot. (Now back to my dream sequence)
